Greatest Atmosphere ever at Maine Road

That was exactly the game I was thinking about. The game before was Derby and we sent them down as well that day. Quinn went in net and saved a penalty. It was pretty loud that day as well.

The Sunderland game was great though.

We did similar with Notts County the year after, following a win against West Ham a couple of games earlier which took them to the brink.

Back when 'we were shit' but beat most teams.

Still has to be the Boro semi final for me, was absolutely rocking that night. Loudest Maine Road was King Colin's comeback.

Charlton 85 (was in that bit between North Stand and Main Stand for that)

Everton 1981 replay (Kippax absolutely rocking)
I was in that bit too. Took an age to get in but the North Stand was full. Stewards escorted us over there.

Was walking along the front of the NS when the first goal went in. Pandemonium ensued. I'll never forget that day.

I was only a youngster at the time but can remember this game like it was yesterday. Everyman and his dog came down from Sunderland that day.
Correct. Id never seen so many away fans ,in away shirts, milling around Maine rd Claremont road etc etc before the game ..not a care in the world about being an away fan. No violence.no arrogance. Just supporting their team in thousands. I formed a new respect for Mackems that match. (.after some unpleasant experiences up at Roker Park before) Red and White striped tops everywhere.
Fantastic support that day
Great Atmosphere.
Marco Gabbiadini on fire ..but ..ultimately Outscored by David White.

I was one of the kids sat right behind the goal for that one - I went flying with about five others ending up with about three people climbing over me lol

I loved the late 90’s early 2000’s in the North Stand and the corner of the Kippax near the away fans. Games that stick out were the last derby, Wigan play off, Birmingham and 4-2 v Sunderland in the first home match back in the top flight. Wanchope got a hat trick on his home debut. Watford 3-0 in Keegan’s first match as well, was it a 6pm kick off for ITV sport? Millwall around that time was a nice friendly family atmosphere as well.

Wigan in the play off semi-final was a brilliant atmosphere , and the ramifications of not reaching the final it was one of the most nervous matches i have attended ,as i wasnt looking forward to another trip to York :)
