That is a good idea, one of the few sensible ones since I bumped it. The fact that thousands of home owners will now suffer, bearing in mind the management company can now charge what they want.....Might I suggest you see how the MP you voted for (assuming they got in) voted, and then write to them telling them exactly what you think of their voting record on this? Maybe they'll think twice if they think it will cost them Tory voters next time.

You are right,. This is a scandal. Taxpayer, representing a decent society should cover it. Abandoning citizens to bankruptcy through no fault of their own is indefensible.As stated before I vote Conservative, I mention this before some jump down my throat :-)
Today Parliament had the chance to stop developers charging home owners for the cost of replacing the dangerous cladding. Labour backed the bill but not enough Tories would vote with them.
The fact that 4? years on people are unable to sell their property and are forced to live in unsafe buildings is a national disgrace. The fact that Conservative mps have now made them liable for the repairs is even worse. Shame on you

Exactly. Not only have they not forced them to fix it, they've managed to turn it into a nice little earner for the companies involved. Almost another Grenfell.
The tower was reportedly due to have its cladding (the same type as Grenfell) removed this week. No fire alarm went off according to witnesses too.

It's patently obvious to anyone with half a brain that the people who approved and specified this cladding should be held responsible, also the manufacturer should have a responsibility for warning and advising that was combustible and totally unsuitable for this project.
The government should bailout these unfortunate people with public funds just like they did with Royal residences like Windsor Castle and Frogmore cottage.
But as usual the people without money and power get shit on from a great height.

I am neither a royalist or an anti one and for all their faults, Grenfell had nothing to do with them......BUT, at a time millions are sat at some street party with neighbours they don't like, celebrating an elite that doesn't know they exist, that is a moving image.
It is made worse by the fact that thousands of people are STILL living in apartments that are deemed unsafe. We cannot bring back the 72 but surely we can keep thousands of others safe.
