His assessment of Foden was interesting. We obviously see him wide left more often than in the middle but clearly Pep still expects him to play a central area.
The critique was around his experience and when to attack/play with pace and urgency and when to relax and play a simple pass. Completely understandable. Foden is clearly going to want to get man of the match everytime he plays, but Pep wants control and to ensure the side is balanced.
Interestingly I actually would point to De Bruyne this season as being really poor in that regard. Running with the ball for long distances, playing very attacking balls from deep on the counter when as easier pass is on. Of course, it's Kev so he can pull most things off, but a real turning point as Pep says is how much more controlling we are in possession again now. The Leeds game always sticks out to me for how gung-ho and therefore vulnerable we were in our earlier performances.
