Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

This has been tweeted by Sammy Lee from GOAL this morning, who is, I believe, a well balanced Utd fan (don't see many of those around)

'You can win the title and not be a great side, not be good enough in Europe. City want to be truly great, and I think it's worth going with.'

I think this is what we must all remember when viewing what is going on at City. Pep has been employed to build a great team, not a winning team, not a functional team, a great team. If he succeeds we will, along with the whole world, be creaming ourselves. I agree with Sammy, aim for the stars !

NB I tried to do the embed thing but couldn't get it to work.

Totally agree but did he make Bayern into a team that the whole World were creaming their pants about? He didnt reach the CL final with them so why is it a certainty he will make City a team the whole world will cream themselves about.By all accounts with some of the shit hes been left with next season will more than likely be another transitional one.

The man himself has said as much-its other people putting him on a pedestal.

What exactly is the score though? Is he fit? Is he not fit? Are we just not risking him further injury so we can sell him?

He was aware he was being judged solely on his capacity to stay fit this season, everything he had achieved before was in the past.

I don't believe we would demand a fee, nor that any would be forthcoming, either, based on his huge salary and fitness record.

Plenty of fans were questioning his ability when he was playing in last couple years, bullshitting his private life was impacting his performance.

It seems Vinny's body gave up on him.

If Vinny wants to stay we should let him to stay. With Hart being shipped out, Toure and Zaba being likely to leave and rumours about Aguero leaving we remove so much of the things I love with this club.

If Vinny manages to stay fit he's still a good CB and an amazing leader on the pitch. And it would hurt me a lot to see him play for another club. Pep should make clear to him that even if he's fit hes not his first or second choice. But if Vinny wants to stay he should be given the chance to stay. He's done enough for this club to stay on big wages despite not playing much. And by the time his contract is up I'd love to see him amongst our coaching staff.

I love this club, but i'd rather Vinnie left and we moved forward than waiting for something that just isn't going to happen. He hasn't been fit for over 2 seasons now, it's time to call it a day imo.
He's not going to be playing against us in the prem that's for sure, if he even plays again.

Yaya is going as he is out of contract, if he signs for another club straight away then City won't have to pay severance money.

Makes sense for it be this way. Sad times for him but hopefully doesn't taint the memories he has given us.

That's nonsense mate, he didn't want to be here. He didn't like the country, the city or the club and he couldn't wait to fuck off back to Germany.

Utter nonsense.

He was brought in to be a centre back and was immediately stuck at RB, where Micah beat him out.

That's why he left. We didn't give him a chance in the position we bought him in.

I have no idea if he will succeed in building such a team but I love that he is going to try and has the full backing of our owners.

I think that is the difference over the Bayern situation, he never had the time or degree of control that would allow him to build the team.

Personally I'd rather win less trying to play beautiful football than win ugly. Chelsea will win the PL this season but who will remember the football they have played ? No-one is the answer.

Totting up trophy numbers is for Rags and Dippers.
