Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

Has to be injury/fitness related, if, as I've read in some of the comments on here, that Guardiola only rates a fit Kompany as 4th CB choice/best at the club, then I'm of the opinion his judgement should be seriously called into question.

If this is true it's really sad but not massively unexpected. Such a shame to see such a great player and a great pro have his prime years cut so short. Can't see him staying on in an ambassadorial role as i imagine he'll want to try and keep on playing somewhere but it'd be good to see him back one day.

I don't really see it as Guardiola "axeing" him. The injuries have axed him and we've been left in a position where it just isn't viable for the team to rely on him.

I imagine he'll always feel that he never got to quite finish the job at City but he should be immensely proud of what he's achieved.

The Bravo/Hart situation appears to be the primary reason some will not give Pep a break, subsequently they have decided they dont like the man and are now actively seeking any stick to beat him with.Personally i think its a very blinkered outlook because, while Bravo hasnt been a success and his performances have provided further ammunition for his detractors,i'm convinced the decision was made for the right reasons and that, given the time,Pep will transform us into a team we could only dream about.

We need to stand together, this developing divide is a weakness,it isnt healthy and it obviously wont do us any favours going forward.......whatever happens with Vinny,we again have to trust that it will be the right decision for all.

These people are going to look like absolute mugs in a few years, more than they already do now.

He best end up back here in some capacity once he calls time on his career. He's been a hero for us.

Probably based on what he's seen since hes been here - which is a none match fit Kompany who is a shadow of the player we saw 5 years ago.

There is no problem. Guardiola is manager and he isn't going to get deflected by tabloid critics.

Over the entire season, attacking has become a problem, but one which I think has been addressed with the Sane and Jesus buys. That largely leaves defence and there Guardiola and MCFC have no choice but to bring in new players because Sagna, Zab, Toure etc are well past it.

Disappointing to go out of the Champions League to a team I think we should have beaten, but Sane and Jesus have got me entirely convinced that the future if very bright. A powerful central defender and maybe a keeper would dramatically improve City.

We're not underperforming, we're doing what you expect for a team that plays all out attacking football with defenders who are too slow. Replace the defensive players, which we will do in the Summer and we'll win everything. The keeper is also a huge issue/impact

Don't think the latter will happen overnight though. Will take 2/3 seasons to really get the team we need that will know each other well enough to dominate and have the experience to do so. Sane/Sterling/Jesus will be flying by then but it's vital that we get the next 5/6 signings right. No more Delphs, Rodwells,Mangala's. We need to be signing players who are very good, can get better and have at least 5 years playing time in front of them at their peak. We are very light in the 23-27 age category and that's the range we should be targeting for me.

Amidst all of the "new sleeve sponsors/turfing people out of their seats/extra security check" nonsense, it would be nice and repair some of the damage if the club could just announce he and Zaba are leaving ahead of time and allow them a proper send-off/farewell in their final games.

If Pep & co. can treat them like they'd treat Xavi then it would go a long way to building a rapport.

What I fear is they'll just be quietly ditched in June/July and some 3 minute Youtube video with highlights is all we'll get. Just dismissed like Casillas was at Real.

The management & leadership need to show they get the regular support and are in-tune with how we feel. Even if we don't agree with their decisions, at least relate to us on our level when needed and I think this would be a great way to do that.

I know this is hard to believe, but when you read between the lines Pep is simply saying Kompany is the 4th choice CB.

Not because of injury or fear he might pull-up, but simply on performance. This whole "I'm just trying to make sure he is ready" is simply a rouse and a soft way to break the news to the dreamy eyed City fandom and a bit of a show of respect to a legend.

But the truth is Pep has never thought of Kompany as first choice. At 1 time he had hoped Komps would try to earn that spot. But at least for months now its been clear that he doesn't think Kompany is starting material.

It is painful to say, but from what Pep says and does its clear what he thinks. Ota is the best defender, Stones is his future, and Kolarov is the only Left sided CB on the squad and the best long ball passer. Kompany is the best at nothing under Pep, and is the odd man out.

Not out of fear of injury. Just simply out. He is 4th choice.

Whether you think today's Kompany is good or not is fine, but Pep clearly doesn't. And just seems to be doing his best not to spill the beans.

If that is the case Pep has sinply got that wrong....based on ability even within a different system kompany is head and shoulders above all the rest....btween tgem our centre halves have been individually or as a pair directyly responsible for quite a few goals this season..kolarov and ottomendi due to positioning and stones fir to givingvthe ball away and being too light weight.

The defensive performances this season have been a shambles

I see the Cabal are in full-on condescension mode today. I congratulate you on your smugness.

Good manager though Pep is, it's pretty clear from this season that he needs the best players to get the best out of them and deliver.
It's not really his fault as the squad has been allowed to decay badly over the last four years - especially at full back, defensive midfield and centre half.
That said I feel a tidge disappointed, as I thought Pep was better than he is showing. Especially disappointing is the length of time it often takes him to make some tactical adjustments. For example, KDB against Monaco - Why did he wait till half time to change it?
Still unlike some who are seriously starting to doubt, I'm sure Pep will come good.
