Guardiola to Axe Kompany (Various Sources)

Probably based on what he's seen since hes been here - which is a none match fit Kompany who is a shadow of the player we saw 5 years ago.

True, but still arguably better than what we have, we looked a far more solid, cohesive unit when he has managed to play and that's not even taking into consideration the effect Vinny being there has on those around him, I'll happily accept Guardiola calling it on fitness related grounds, no problem with that, but if it's because he doesn't "rate" Kompany, then sorry, it'll leave him with a big question mark over his ability to spot the qualities we look for in a top class defender for me personally.

If that is the case Pep has sinply got that wrong....based on ability even within a different system kompany is head and shoulders above all the rest....btween tgem our centre halves have been individually or as a pair directyly responsible for quite a few goals this season..kolarov and ottomendi due to positioning and stones fir to givingvthe ball away and being too light weight.

The defensive performances this season have been a shambles

Important to remember we've conceded less goals than Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton, despite the problem we do have.

We also just kept 7 consecutive clean sheets away from home for the first time in the club's history.

The problem we have is that the defence just isn't anywhere near good enough to win the league or champions league. I actually even think 4 of the rags back line, including keeper, would get in our team.

We got the worst fullbacks in the top 7 and lack an experienced top quality centre half.

Kompany just isn't in shape to play despite what the comment you were responding to said. The reason he has been out is because he pulled up with a muscle injury again in training nearly a month ago. He's back in full training now, but it's one of those where if he is put straight in then he will likely just pull up again. If he can't stay fit for training then he has no chance of staying fit for a match.

Have you got a link to pep spouting he don't rate kompanys craft on the park please harry

It will be a particularly sad day for me when Vinnie no longer leads the team out.

Players come and players go but some of them leave a lasting impression in the past it was Trautman and Bell for me. The current team it will be Zabba, Sergio and Vinnie.

Zabba for his heroic efforts and his never say die attitude, Sergio for his goals and the greatest moment in football and Vinnie for his leadership and outstanding defending.

I will always remember his celebration when he scored with that header against the Scum that took us back to the top of the Prem in 2011/12, it is a wonder he didn't do himself a serious injury then.

Last year we won the League Cup and lost in semi of Chumps Lge whilst our league challenge faded dramatically after winning the first 5 games. This year we lost early in League Cup / early in Chumps Lge and our league challenge is fading dramatically after winning first 6 games. Only thing better is we are still in the Fa Cup. Therefore we are in a worst position - indisputable. You might mean we have better players etc now and more prospects of inprovement going forward - that I will grant you. But give me 150 million and I can get City in a better position - that's not great management that's chequebook management

if kompany has been fit then why the hell hasnt he played??, he is miles ahead of stones, kolarov and otamendi as a centre half, even at 90% fit hes better than that lot

Am I missing something but Belgium have just left him out of their squad because he is not match fit so not really sure what the debate is about.

Pretty sure Pep mentioned earlier in the season Kompany has been fit, played and then got another injury. So guidance is taken now from his blood results. Possible there is still an issue with these.

Ultimately, dumb two words I've not heard on bluemoon for a while
Your not happy with pep but I am and I'm willing to give him time and then judge him are you?
I will stick with him cos if you stick with Alan Ball without leaving you can stick with anyone. I do think though Pep is nothing special - a manager of great teams and not a great manager of teams. Another 200 million and we might be getting somewhere but you give any competent football manager the best part of 350 million to improve a team that were already in the top 4 and they are hardly gonna fail completely are they? I think his "ideas" are not based on better football (although it may be more aesthetically pleasing) they are based on having superior players to the opposition who can therefore play his specific brand of tactics - not hard really. Could Pep get Altrincham out of trouble? Could he turn around Rotherham? I very much doubt it because he has seemingly inflexible thoughts on how to play and wants to implement his tactics on people whoncannnot play that way. Evolution rather than revolution . That, to me, is poor management which in any other walk of life would result in him being replaced fast
