I'm the same mate for the last 14 months no gigs.
The band I was in has given up and recently I've had two offers to join other bands but turned them down.
I just can't be bothered with the practising midweek lugging gear about, setting up and playing for 4 hours for peanuts.
There's hardly any gigs anymore since covid and to be honest I've lost interest in playing in a band.
Covid has finished it, leave it to the younger generation I think.

Yeah, forgot about the practising- what a ball ache that is! We used to go to a place in Bury but still had to take my own amp. It’s £5 each and usually by the time a gig comes around you’ve spent your gig money on practise sessions!
Like I say though, I have enjoyed it and we have had some belting gigs over the years and have entertained thousands of people so mustn’t grumble.

Just buy a cheap decent acoustic and learn off YouTube.
My kids got me this one for xmas two year ago and I love it. so cheap too.

They really are cheap as chips - you would pretty much get your money back flogging then on eBay or the like if you didn't stick with it...........

My son bought the first guitar - same green colour and it looks great. Have you had any problems with it staying in tune ? It’s driving him mad and he‘s thinking of selling it.

Not bought one yet mate other things keep getting in the way. Not heard any problems like that though.

I have a Faith Naked acoustic...lovely tone...had some problems staying in tune but resolved with a lighter gauge string. I noodle blues and Spanish / classical on this. Also have a Gibson SG standard in red....rarely out of its sumptuous pink fur lined case these days.

I am a fucking great Bass player btw. :)

It’s definitely a younger person’s game with all the lugging etc When I was young it didn’t bother me. More energy I suppose. But if I was asked now at 56 I would turn it down. Done my bit and enjoyed it. But I still go and watch plenty of local bands with 50 plus people playing and they seem to love it.

The Bigby will be the problem with keeping it in tune. ..they're a bollix....

Has he been playing long?....if he's fairly new to it, he needs to make sure he is stretching new strings enough too

Cheers for the response. Yes he’s been playing for a number of years- he barely uses the Bigsby and we’ve tried different gauges of string with no success. Might be worth taking it to a Guitar Tech for a quote.
