Oh no I can agree on that bit if you no longer fancy it - I meant purely from a picking them up and playing them perspective..........Yes I can see that but life moves on and I’d much rather be a punter in the pub than suffer the ball ache of lugging all my gear about, setting up, playing, taking it all back down and generally being sober amongst a load of pissed up punters :)
Fair enough not missing the graft of pub gigs, but it's a shame to give up completely. There are some very wealthy guitarists that haven't got any further than that pentatonic scale mate ;-)Yes I can see that but life moves on and I’d much rather be a punter in the pub than suffer the ball ache of lugging all my gear about, setting up, playing, taking it all back down and generally being sober amongst a load of pissed up punters :)
Very very true.........Fair enough not missing the graft of pub gigs, but it's a shame to give up completely. There are some very wealthy guitarists that haven't got any further than that pentatonic scale mate ;-)
I play mainly fingerstyle these days and prefer the smaller bodied and slightly wider necked guitars. Martins dreadnought are monsters and I’d love a D28, never mind a D45. That said, for just less than £10k the world is your oyster and you can have just about anything you want. Based on my own personal taste the D45, whilst fantastic, wouldn’t not be my dream guitar, although it might be yours? You need to go and try one.If money wasn't a factor, would you end up with a D45 or the like or are they literally no better (granted you may be paying thousands for that very small edge of any)?
I'd love to proclaim myself as a 'mix' but I'm pretty much a decent strummer (still like playing my Neil Young at present) - although the last day or so I have tried picking up Fleetwood Mac never going back (I'm shite at finger picking)..........
My son bought the first guitar - same green colour and it looks great. Have you had any problems with it staying in tune ? It’s driving him mad and he‘s thinking of selling it.
The Bigby will be the problem with keeping it in tune. ..they're a bollix....My son bought the first guitar - same green colour and it looks great. Have you had any problems with it staying in tune ? It’s driving him mad and he‘s thinking of selling it.
I'm the same mate for the last 14 months no gigs.I have a Ibanez acoustic, Hofner verythin 6 string electric and an Eastwood 12 string electric. They’re all gathering dust, sadly. Lost all interest in playing as I have kind of hit the wall with regards to my ability. I have played in a band since I was at school but tbh I was never that good. All my lead guitar breaks are based around the pentatonic scale and I just can’t be arsed progressing beyond it. It’s served me ok for 30 odd years winging it in pubs and half the time (most of the time) the punters don’t hear my mistakes. COVID has killed it stone dead really for me. Not missed playing one bit and wouldn’t bother me if I don’t play ever again. I’m 53 now and I’ve had my day playing at being a rock star. Enjoyed it though, usually.
Just buy a cheap decent acoustic and learn off YouTube.Always waned to learn how to play but never got round to it:(
