Guitar Thread

I'm about to push the button on a new one. I've come to accept my 1996 Fender is warping and is beyond economic repair.

One of these is for sale locally for a decent price in new condition (epiphone J-200). Its the base version but a lot of guitar for the money. anyone played one?

I've had this about 6 months now. Lovely guitar. Very good build quality. Grover tuners are a step up on anything else I've had.

The sound is good although given the size, it's a beast, I thought there might be more to it. There is a trade of in size / sound. This is a big guitar with a big sound, but having owned one, starting to think do I need a big sound.

Yes........... ;-)

I'm a bit excited I just bought a 6 string Bass, used (but as new) on Ebay. I already have the Cort 5 string version but on a recent cruise I was talking to the Bass player in the Jazz band who was playing a Cort 6 string and when I told him I was a Bass player he immediately asked me if I wanted to sit in using his Bass. I couldn't resist for one song but I'd never used a Sixer before. Seemed to go ok but if I'm honest he was a way superior player to me. Very talented lad :)

The bass is loaded with Bartolini MK-1 pickups and the brilliant The Markbass 3-Band EQ.... $600 Mahogany bargain !!

Restrung a guitar for the first time in my life yesterday. Wasn't as bad as I'd feared for the last 2 years!

I've used 12/53 guage Elixir 80/20 bronze nanoweb things on my cheap Donner Dreadnought before I do the same on my acoustic Yamaha.

Is it normal for them to sound tinny and echoey? Is there like a settling in period? Or is my strumming technique just shit?

Did it sound tinny before?

They always sound very bright with new strings so that might be what you're experiencing. If so this will go in a few days. Bear in mind though you're also comparing them to 2 year old dead strings so they are bound to sound bright.

If you found them ok to change then don't hold back with the Yamaha. It will also sound bright then settle down

Cool. Post a video then we can comment on your other question, whether your strumming technique is shit.

Even if it is who gives a fuck as long as you're enjoying it. Keep playing!
