Gundogan contract situation

Should we offer him an extension beyond 2023?

There were rumours about his back not being in the best of shape anymore, giving him some trouble. Makes sense for all involved.

He's been absolutely fucking terrific and basically took us to the title last season.

There will be people in this thread saying they'll "miss him so much" when they've done nothing but slag him off for his entire City career except for that 6 month period when he suddenly started scoring loads of goals. He's been excellent throughout - the perfect metronome midfielder, a terrific foil for the more mercurial players around him.

One of the best signings of the Pep era.
Fantastic news that he's staying after all.

One more season in his current role, he'll be invaluable.

Now this story has been put to death I'm waiting for Peps leaving, kdb wants to and the sheikh is being investigated by the IMF.
Saturday is my guess for all 3 stories to be put out by the the mail.

Losing Gundo and Fern at once would have been v painful. They have that class, maturity and intelligence that you just know the younger lads look up to.

Seems like the right time with the rumours of another centre mid coming in, plus it leaves space for one of the young lads to develop.

Feels like another squad refresh similar to summer 2017 is coming.

He's given us a good 6 years, he was so influential and important last year. Seems like very decent guy as well. If true then I can only say thank you for everything Ilkay.

So it seems this story is a crock of shit? Placed to destabilise the team before the weekend perhaps?

Time for a Gundo hat-trick I hope.

Pep confirmed in his presser that he wants Gundogan to be here next season.

Really hope he is staying. Fernandinho and Gundogan in the same summer would've been a huge loss to the dressing room in terms of leadership and experience.

He has to be kept. Had a bad season with injuries but a full summer off and hopefully he can get back to his levels of previous seasons. And beyond that hopefully can stay and take on a coaching role. A beautiful player to watch and one that clearly has the brain to be a top coach.

Agreed, Gundo needs to stay, whilst he has not reached the heights of last season he still is a vital squad member and has a part to play. Hopefully, next season his back injuries won't be an issue and he can get back to his best form.
