Harry due in court on Monday 23rd January 2012 (merged)

The prosecution barrister's opening statement:

"The first payment could have been an accident, but on the second one he's paid him straight into the bank, it is not the first time the boy has done that and I am sure it won't be the last. I am the last person to talk about getting people sent off to jail and what they should and shouldn't do. But it is blatant."

The prosecution was less than impressed by the suggestion that Harry and his rogue behaviour is merely misunderstood.

"What do you think?" said the barrister. "A lovable rogue? What do you think? He's nothing to do with me and it's up to the jury. I've got my own opinions, but I don't like seeing people evade tax.
It's not something I understand, how can you open a bank account in your dog's name when they are lying on the floor eating a bone. I don't understand it. I don't know. It's done. I'm sure the jury will look at it. They must do, mustn't they?" he added.

Arry has been told today that his cell mate will be a guy called "Ben Dover".
On hearing the news, Arry said he's heard he is a triffic lad.
Apparently Arry said he has heard he has very gentle hands and "wouldn't hurt a fly".
To prove the point, Arry said the lad has already offered to share his bunk with Arry.
Arry finished by saying that he thinks he will be a great cell mate, but he is somebody elses cell mate at the moment, so he doesn't want to talk about him as "tapping up" has a different meaning in there...

Blimey!

Re: Harry Twitcher

If he is found guilty he will go to prison. That's not automatic, but high profile people convicted of tax fraud pretty much always get a prison sentence unless there are very unusual circumstances.

Given that the amounts involved are not huge by tax fraud standards, it would not be a very long sentence and he'd probably only serve about a third of the time anyway.

My guess would be 12 to 18 months, so six months in prison at the most.

I doubt whether the FA or the EPL have any powers to prevent him from being employed by Spurs.

Brilliant, absolutely magnificent. Triffic one might say.

Most players these days can save 2m a year on tax with the image rights stuff. Rooney, Owen, Rio all do this to avoid paying millions on tax. Unfortunately that route is legal and not really frowned upon

that's tax avoidance which is perfectly legal.

'arry's being prosecuted for tax evasion which is highly illegal.

similarly you can avoid paying your tv licence by not having a tv but if you have a tv & evade paying your tv licence you're liable to get done. simples.

Under cross-examination, Arry admitted, "If you want the bestions, but you don't ask questions, then brother, I'm your man"

When asked where the payments had come from, Redknapp replied, "Where it all comes from is a mystery, it's like changing of the seasons and the tides of the sea..."
