Harry Kane

Honestly tired of reading 'we have missed out on Messi/Lukaku/Andre Silva/_insert half decent European striker available on market', 'so Kane better be done'

I get that not getting a striker would be frustrating but it is simply naive and childish to even think 34 year old Messi was some missed opportunity other than from a commercial standpoint. Same people that think false 9 would get found out again, want Messi... who would do what? Play false 9? Or alternatively... bench one of Mahrez/Sterling/Foden/Torres? And we would STILL need a 9 going into next window with the wage bill ridiculously high. We can win the league this season even without a striker, if you don't believe that, then last season is a good example, if you still need convincing on Pep working out a solution then I'm not sure what you wish for.

Kane's a rare opportunity, but I wouldn't think our board is as daft to be played by an arrogant prick like Levy. We are the sole party interested in Kane, there is NO competition, it is Levy's loss if he does not take the £125m + whatever add-ons suggested the fee is. How is it our problem then? We can still get a striker next window, push and win the league this season. Can we say the same for Spurs? Their financial situation won't improve, a win over us is no indication of them being some top 4 side magically without a significant revamp of their squad. At worst we won't win the league again, but come back stronger next year.

As for Lukaku, his situation is clear, he only left for Chelsea, else he would have stayed at Inter. So that's definitely not a missed opportunity either, rather misunderstood by people.

I don't get it really, we would be breaking a premier league transfer record for Kane, and it's also totally sensible that our board does not want to go as high as £160m, but some people suggest we are doomed if not? If we add someone it's because their profile is perfect and it makes sense, otherwise, we still have a capable enough squad to make it work. Neither of these additions are magically guaranteeing us Champions League if someone's fixated on that belief btw, just so we are clear. We are in a squad revamp phase ourselves, next year we'll have to search for a left back (hopefully) and a defensive midfielder to replace the legend that is Fernandinho (and it is incredibly tough in that market too).

Sorry for the long essay, may I suggest take things in context here. We have come off our club's best season in Europe, one of the best ever, period. It's not some doom and gloom situation. And it is definitely not a failure if we don't get a striker, because we did it all without one last year. Couple losses and everyone loses their heads, can't fault some, but the overreaction is rather bizarre. If you think it won't work this year, then your beef might be with Pep Guardiola handed a squad of this much quality and your doubts in him not working out a solution (hope that's not the case).

Soo all of those who are still convinced it’s already a done deal everyone’s just deciding not to announce for some reason,
What’s you’re reasoning for kane playing in a uefa conference league game on Thursday, risking injury and ruining this “done deal”
Where do I place a bet on him to score in your intertodo cup match?

He literally hasn't done anything. He's just sat there while we tell anyone who will listen that Kane is our only option and don't even pretend to have any alternatives. We've also waited until the end of the window, because no rush or anything.
God some of you people are clueless!
It was always going this way. Levy needs to drag it out to save face and push the price up as high as he can
In the end
1 we will get Harry Kane this summer
2 we will pay a fortune
3 spurs will buy sub standard replacements
4 spurs will win fuck all

levy likes to look like this tough negotiator but essentially he is a shite chairman more interested in nfl than premier league

Come back when he's actually named in the team, not just more crap from Levy's PR posse.

Ha ha ha this didn’t age well you absolute clown. No Kane on the plane lol

Give me a break
Chelsea wanted Lukaku, Lukaku wanted Chelsea. He wasn't going anywhere else. Take all the break you need. We wouldn't have magically forced Lukaku to join, he had no interest playing for us.

It’s like Kane. Chelsea couldn’t sign him because Kane had no interest in Chelsea.

Lukaku made it very clear, very early, that he wasn't interested in City.
That isn’t true. He played the game: I’m happy at Inter and I don’t want to leave. Which is what you do until you leave. It was always bullshit. And it was clear he was going to leave for the amount of money the market valued him, given the situation Inter is in. Unless you have some quote telling me he specifically said he didn’t want to play alongside his best friend from the Belgium national team but would for Chelsea.

But people love telling themselves narratives otherwise. I bet the Txiki out drafts are loading up again.

You can tell yourself that all you want but it’s not true. Chelsea tried to make Haaland work, they couldn’t reach an agreement with Dortmund, and quickly worked a deal that made Inter happy, which we, too, could have done in a matter of days if we wanted.
Saying he had no interest in playing for us specifically is bullshit of the highest level. If you go to his thread, people there truly believed he wouldn’t want to leave Inter after a happy season for anybody. Obviously that was never the case

You’re struggling to grasp grealish is now a city player whereas Kane isn’t
A transfer that’s been in the works longer than grealish still can’t be agreed, despite a load of you saying it’s already a done deal.
You seem to regard this as a victory. I am not sure disrespecting your main player is really such a smart move. I don't see why you would identify so strongly with the management of Levy.
