Harry Kane

Top class striker but we’ve dodged a bullet here -£125m + on Harry was never gonna be money well spent

As well as “lost a yard” and “injury ravaged “ we can add “lacks ambition” and “meek”to his bad points. He’s been bullied into doing something he doesn’t want to do. Any player of his stature in his situation who wants to leave and pushes it hard enough will be allowed to leave.

Banter about Gerrard aside, Kane would fucking kill for a league cup medal let alone two FA cup medals and three league cup medals. If he stays at Spurs and doesn't win anything, which now looks likely, I can't think of a single player of his standard without a medal to show for it.
Maybe they’ll win the UEFA Conference League. Are there any other full time professional teams in it?

How are we weaker? Serge played the equivalent of exactly 8 games in all comps out of 61 games total.

Grealish gives us a new attacking threat that we didn't have last season so we look stronger to my mind. That's disregarding any impact that the young players like Palmer and maybe Delap may have.
Maybe you are right, but our issue is leading the line against the better teams, there is a reason Chelsea beat us three times at the back end of the season and I don't see how Grealish solves that, he has scored 30 goals in 180 odd games(to me he seems more like a David SIlva replacement who managed 60 goals in 300 games for the club).
As for Palmer and Delap I will be absolutely stunned if they play as many 8 games between them, I truly hope I'm wrong on all of this, but I just don't see us stronger this season.

Really think City have dodged a bullet with this, the money being demanded for a player with injury issues and possible best years behind him smacks of Alexis Sanchez all over again. Also spuds are left with a player who does not really want to be there and whose value has peaked. Think I know who the real winners are in all of this.

Agreed on the Champions League final, the loss was due to Chelsea playing a smart system we couldn’t cope with. Having a striker to bring on late in the game may have helped. The League last year has no bearing this year, everyone starts on zero points. It doesn’t help to stand still when your rivals have strengthened. As it stands I see Chelsea finishing above us. They have an excellent manager and added Lukaku.
We’ll see.

Very happy with this. Voted no, never watched him and been wowed by him, the money was silly and his ankles are a worry. I just hope we get someone decent in. We are 1 piece away from being the finished article imo

There is a reason they beat us two of them, pep and his brainfarts

1) I don’t blame Kane in all this, he clearly wanted City and even avoided training to agitate for a move

2) I don’t blame Levy in all this either, he’s got a player under contract and has set the transfer fee, which he’s entitled to do.

3) I also don’t blame city for not meeting the ludicrous figure that Levy wanted.

Where I do lay blame is at City’s absolute naivety that a deal for Kane will happen and for letting it drag on this long - leaving ourselves without a forward (less than 1 week before the window shuts) and in the process missing out on Messi and Lukaku who were easily achievable.
That’s if you think all the people involved in transfers at City don’t consider all these things.

Football goes on forever, it’s never about one season or one transfer window. Just like with Dias - who we got a year later than we needed a Kompany replacement - sometimes we get who we need at that very moment, other times we don’t, other times we eventually get them, other times we never do (we’ve played midfielders and right backs at left back for four years after playing four over 30s at full back for two years too long)… all the while still winning trophies.

City might well need a striker now, but it might be a year or two into the future before we get the one we really need.

Wrong on the last line in my view Gundo. Not when your Chairman is Daniel Levy. And I actually thought he showed a lot of ambition in deciding to leave his boyhood club.

This signing could of been the difference from City finishing 1st to erm finishing 1st ;)

It makes not 1 difference.

let’s see who we can get before the window closes. Regroup and try to find a long term Sergio replacement.

I honestly see no problem that the deal could not be done.

Kinda feel this was a whole messi transfer type of thing. I want to leave blah blah blah then no I’m staying

This transfer just never seemed plausible to me so I’m not surprised but I am confused as to why we pursued it.

Levy was never going to give in for less than the full £150 million in money and we were never likely to pay that much.
