Harry Kane

But that purely off an assumption

As I said, plenty of the top strikers in the world are into their 30s

Kane is the best natural #9 in the Prem right now, can't see him regressing drastically over 4 years...maybe he'll slow down a bit but he's not built off pace, plus he'd be rotated here which should help preserve his career (I mean how often does he play for Sours when he's not fully fit because they rely on him)
Very true, but I did say that when David Silva 'n Sergio came they'd be good for ten years, but the last couple of months for the pair of 'em . . . . . .?

If the Sheikh thinks we can afford him and Pep wants him, that's good enough for me. Do I think we'd pay £120-150m? No I don't and I don't think anyone else would either.

If you were the United board, would you pay £120m for Kane plus £300k/week wages and then let Solskjaer loose on him? No way. Chelsea might do although they've spent quite a lot recently and probably would prefer to try Werner out. Can't see him at Liverpool either. As far as I know most of the big European teams probably wouldn't pay that either. I think £90-100m is reasonable and if we look after him he will give us a good 6 years I expect.

Kane is a superb footballer and if there's one thing Pep can do is improve players. I genuinely think under Pep that Kane could win the Ballon D'Or.

I don't "like" him as a player, I think he is snidy and should expect some revenge dished out to him in training from seasons past. However, as a footballer he has everything we need - intelligence, ABILITY TO SCORE A F**KIN PENALTY, cool finisher, height, heading ability, creativity and that ability to score a goal from nothing. I wouldn't say he is a direct Aguero replacement (no one ever will be) but he would certainly give us a lot that he had. His link up play and assists tells you everything - he would be absolutely ideal for us. Just think how many shots Jesus, Sterling and Mahrez scuff or blast over the bar from a few yards away and put Kane there instead and we're talking big numbers. I'd be tempted on a £10er for 40 goals in a season - wouldn't you?

I also think that Kane will be desperate to win trophies. He's been unlucky that he was loyal to the club just at the period they stopped investing. Kane will be coming into a club where he can reasonably expect to win 2/3 medals a season until he retires, plus he will have a genuine chance of Ballon D'Or too. He would love playing with Foden, Mahrez, KdB, Silva and Gundogan too as they are all on his wavelength.

I have absolute trust in the Sheikh, Pep and the medical staff. They will do what's best for the club and if they think he is good value, I'll go with that. If the medical staff - we will have the best in the world - think he is good, who can argue with that? If they think Haaland offers more, I'll back them.

The fact that we are favourites to sign the best striker in the league tells you everything about how far we've come!!

Not everyone wants haaland. Personally i have always seen Kane as the ideal option for many of the reasons you have posted above.

we have the best manager in the world for the next 5 seasons maximum imo. We must capitalise and give him the very best players we can. Once pep goes we will still be successful but not to this level. He has normalised the abnormal
Funnily enough, the reasons you give are exactly why I'd rather get Haaland. You're right, Kane is a brilliant player and would be a huge success for City, no doubt about it.
On the flip side, Haaland is already one of the top strikers around and under Pep's tutelage would just get even better, he'd be an absolute beast in 2 or 3 years when Pep moves on, leaving City to navigate the post-Pep era with possibly the best no.9 in the world just heading towards his mid-20s. That's the sort of position I want the club to be in when Pep's time finally comes to an end.

The very real alternative is Pep leaving, Kane succumbing to what is very possibly the cumulative effect of injuries after a few successful years and City having to splash out big time again for another striker. All while Haaland has signed for..... say United, and is coming into his prime just as City need to entice a top player to come without the unique selling point of having Guardiola as coach. Clearly City are an attractive proposition for most players but even the most diehard blue has to admit the current advantage of having Pep when it comes to enticing players.

Get Haaland now and you have players wanting to come to City because it's a team with still improving talent like Foden and Haaland, forget who the manager is.

Opinions eh, would be a boring world if we all thought the same thing.

It's Haaland, Kane or a relatively low profile option is my guess. There is a dearth of strikers and with Haalands clause next year, we might not want to get into a Raiola+wages bidding war.
Issue, ofcourse with Kane is Levy. We will definitely be overpaying but without the CL, it's going to be tough to keep him, it's Kane one and only chance to win trophies.

I'm amazed at the negativity on here. I get that we don't like him, Spuds connections, bit of a dirty twat, mouth breathing, fat tongued tottenham gosbhite. He's quality though, absolute quality and has a lot more to his game than just goals. Fits right in for me.
Obviously we don't want to be giving Levy any more that is necessary but if a deal can be done we should do it.
