Harry Kane

It wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference. Neither would have gone. If either ever wanted or does want to leave City will sell them, with or without a release clause. That's how football works. You can't keep a player who wants to leave just for the hell of it.
Completely agree with you, I think some people forget that football players are simply employees that agree to do a job for a specific amount of money and for a specified amount of time. In any other career, there would be all sorts of human rights and criminal issues if you weren't allowed to leave of your own free will unless someone could pay your ransom.

In what better way do you reckon he could have handled it if he wants out that would have speeded up the process of getting him his move? (other than get a buy out clause in his contract 3 years ago)
Well other than a buyout clause, he should've had a much better representation to work on this move, clearly his brother's advice has done no wonders. Loads of players negotiate their exits with clubs, I'm not saying he would have 100% sped it up, but it would allowed for proper negotiations to take place. He's played it right into Levy's hands. You don't just decide to do a Sky interview pricing yourself, then sit back and expect it to work out, and if it hasn't, just not turn up to training.

Interesting from The Telegraph story that he won't put in an official transfer request. The idea is that if he does that, he'll be penalised financially somehow, maybe foregoing a loyalty bonus.

If everyone was in such a rush that's obviously a card that needs to be played. It would add to the money for Spurs but for some reason, they're keeping it back.

My guess is that when City go in with a final offer, Kane will submit a formal transfer request as well.

Yes. I am aware.

It was just a more general point of we don't have release clauses here for a reason. Clubs dont want to give anyone the opportunity to even try and turn the head of a player.
In Spain it is illegal to not have one if I remember correctly, so the likes of Neymar got 200m clause thinking no one would ever pay that for a footballer. Well here we are.

Everyone screaming for a release clause should thank themselves lucky that its not that popular in the UK or the likes of PSG may have come in at some point and paid for KDB or Foden years ago.
I’m not pretending to be up to date on the nuances of release clauses. Surely a player has to be interested in the move? It’d be chaos otherwise.

Also this friendly they have in the Vauxhall’s Europa conference tomorrow would be ideal for fitness
Spurs rushed Kane for champions league final when he wasn’t for same as league cup last season against us
They have never worried about his fitness before
He ain’t playing because he is leaving
