Harry Kane

Can’t be that good or Atalanta wouldn't have let him join you on loan.
objectively this is a stupid argument, it's a loan with obligation to buy, just a way to subvert FFP. got nothing to do with the player's abilities, who won serie a defender of the year last season.

let's be rational here.

Agree. Kane was never going for less. I feel the total deal with addons will be more like 160/170. Spurs hold all the cards, City need to sign a striker and Kane is the one they want. They have to pay up or forget having a striker this season.
I dont care what figure you dream up in your head. 150m with add ons? I dont believe it. And dont give me that levy is a genius crap, youve gone backwards, 120 with add ons, or you get told where to go. Keep your unhappy player, who doesnt want to play for you.

Why is everyone always talking about the transfer fee. For me it’s about getting the player the manager wants and sees fit.

The transfer fee will either be a big financial disaster, or a bargain, and anything in between.
It all depends on how the player performs for us. If the club pays 150mill and Kane will be topscorer for the next 3 seasons and scores really important goals in the CL, 150mill it’s a bargain. If he doesn’t score for 2-4/5 months and gets injured forcing him to retire, it’s a financial disaster. So you simply can not tell up until the player either moves away or ends his career. Money talk is just simply talk for journos and jealous opposite fans.

Give an inch and he takes a mile. Classic Levy.

If he gets what he wants for Kane (which I think he will and we’ll pay up) then he’ll be lauded as some negotiating hero.

That might be true in this instance but he’s already seeing players turning him down this Summer because he’s a snakey wanker. I doubt it’s purely because Spurs aren’t in the CL - this supposed gentleman’s agreement, as stupid as it is, will mean something to players who see Spurs as a stepping stone.

Which I’d hazard a guess is a few.

So it’s been..
“City value Kane at £100m”
“£120m is our maximum”
“City will go to £130m”
“£130m plus addons to take it to £150m”
And finally “£150m to start negotiating”
The whole thing is ridiculous.
We pay that and we’re stupid, not only do I not think he’s worth that, I don’t personally want him even at £100m, but the impact that would have on future negotiations would be huge.
Up till now we’ve always walked away from players we deem not to be fair value, we pay the extortionate asking price and some future deals become much more harder cos the clubs with hang tight expecting us to pay up.
I’d rather go into the season with Jesus, Torres and Delap.
We might not win fuck all, but for me that’s the better option long term, more stable for the club’s future.
There’s no guarantees we sign Kane and win everything anyway.
Sure a new striker improves our chances, but at what cost?

I've never thought Kane was in worse shape than Ibrahimovic, but even if he's not now, he's the kind of sports nerd who's likely going to obsess with that stuff as he gets older. He's the kind of guy who has Inspirational Michael Jordan quote murals on his home gym.

We know his idol is Tom Brady, and he's notorious for his quack diets and extreme measures to prolong his career.

Kane will be drinking shots of turmeric oil and eating a paleo vegan diet in between his twice daily hot yoga sessions before he's 30.

Reckon the deal gets done?

Personally I can see levy enjoying every minute of this. Can also see him placating kane with a new extension with a bumper pay rise should this deal collapse.

You might be correct but I’d take a different view. Kane and Levy’s relationship is broken beyond repair. No way Kane stays there - a compromise will need to be found. Kane simply can’t and won’t stay if a gentleman’s agreement has been broken - all trust will be gone.

Not that i know anything but I'm 80% sure its done in the next week.

We have too much riding on Peps last 2 seasons to miss out on a top striker and the difference seems like 20 or 30 million which just isn't all that in the grand scheme of things.

Also Levy is a seller, its what he always does in this situation.

this is the trouble, its ok paying over the odds on one single deal but its saying to other clubs 'sit it out and you will get your price'
could it be an undisclosed fee? as you see in other transfers, that would leave the media guessing anything from 100m-170m
