Harry Kane

I’ve read some spurs fans saying the worry is Kane could buy himself out of the final 3 years of his contract. Due to his age and already having 2 years of said contract under his belt.

I don’t think it’s ever been done before, but I suppose it depends how much Kane wants to win trophies.
I'm relying on Wikipedia for info (so make of that what you will) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webster_ruling - It states that as he is 27 years old he has to have served 3 years of his contract. It looks like he signed his current contract in June 2018, so it is possible this year. However, the legal ramifications are not clear and clubs have threatened to take any player that does it to court for breach of contract - so could get messy.

Am I wrong? Show me when he asked to leave. Or what club has made an offer. Or what Spurs need to respond to.

Edit, and none of this 'sources close to someone close to someone close to the player's neigbour claims btw. No random retweeted tweets by nobodys.
1 he probably has asked to leave
2 we have probably already made our first contact
Your on a forum about transfers, can we only talk about things when Daniel levy tells us?

Mate if you can’t figure out with everything going on and all the reports from the most reliable people out there that this deal is being worked on and you think Kane doesn’t actually want out of spurs or even told Levy of his desire to leave then I really don’t know what to say to you pal.

I didn't say that. I said spurs have nothing to respond to. Which is why they havent. The only thing driving this, at the moment, is the interview and the choice of reading into it. Till that changes, Spurs can ignore it.

Why though, in response to what?

Harry Kane hasn't asked to leave. He has not. They have already denied sky's guess claims. He gave a generic interview. He talked about wanting to win things, wanting to play CL, and if he could add a player to his team (as the question was worded) , that it would be KdB. To each of those, who the fuck wouldn't! The closest he came to suggesting wanting to leave is saying he will have an honest conversation with Levy, and who knows, Levy might want to cash in and sell him.

While there is clearly an underlying suggestion in the whole thing, there is absolutely nothing of substance in it. Which is why Spurs don't need to respond. They can focus on getting a new manager in, and unless Kane Actually asks to leave, or a club make an actual offer, it is as you were and ignore the noise.

The media have managed to massively run off with this, and get everyone following, but that is all it is. For now.
Kane has hinted him wanting to leave quite clearly in recent weeks. Of course the media blows it out of proportion with links, valuations etc etc.

You're right that he hasn't actually asked to leave the club directly, because that would mean handing in a transfer request. This is the important bit, once he hands in a transfer request, he loses quite a lot of entitlements to him at the club, it would become that much more difficult for him at the club, and he would also lose out on stuff like loyalty bonuses for example, amongst other things, so he wouldn't dare hand in a request and just hope that Levy allows him to be put on market for the club interested, in short, relying on goodwill.

Spurs don't need to respond but they also need to be careful. This is how most major transfers play out, it's not really anything new. Only hurdle here is Kane's price tag and the only thing in the way of him moving or staying. Spurs wouldn't just come out and say yeah sure our best player who averages 25 goals per season is up on market and we'll see what money we can get

So that Kane was ‘normal’ in your opinion?

If that was, say, KDB giving that interview you’d be fine and thinking there was nothing to it?

Players don’t need to ask to leave to be able to go, sometimes it’s just obvious. And that’s what Kane did, made it obvious.

If we were in the position spurs are in, every and any one of or players might be saying similar.

I'm not saying he doesn't want to leave. I'm not saying clubs aren't interested in bringing him in or have started speaking to him.

I am saying currently, there is nothing in this for either spurs to respond to or anyone to take it for granted it is all a done thing.

Laporte has said he wants to play more. Does that mean he is already at another club?

There is a long way to go with this, and it is yet to all happen. The interview, it is long gone. There has been nothing since. I doubt there will be till after the Euros.

Laporte saying he wants to play more isn’t the same as Kane naming his own price and saying ‘there’s a conversation to be had’ with Levy on an hour-long Sky Sports interview. And I’m sure you know that.

You say there’s nothing in this and you’re right...if we only take what we know publicly into account. I’m sure behind the scenes there will be a lot more going on. No smoke without fire and we work on deals for months. Proactive rather than reactive etc etc

Possibly, on both.

I was respinding to you pointing out that there has been nothing from spurs at all, and some interpreting that as 'maybe it IS a done deal then'.

I am simply pointing out there is nothing to respond to, official or public. If you (royal you) then intepret my saying that as not beleiving there is anything at all in it, rather than what is there not saying what we are making it out to say, I can't help that.

Fair enough
I also think they are planting stories about players they want like Jesus and sterling
It’s definitely moving in the background
Nothing was ever gonna happen before champions league final anyway

Maybe they are. Maybe it is just speculation. Heck our own fans immediately offered those two up in hypothetical exchange, the second there was noise on this.

The irony is, people saying believing it is a done deal believed just as strongly haaland was a done deal only weeks ago. Similarly, based on very little. And it would take very little for that to change again.

If Haaland had done the exact same as Kane has done you’d be creaming yourself over it mate let’s have it right and saying how much this deal is on etc.

Behind closed doors do you think Levy, Kane/his agent, City and Spurs have just said oh there’s nothing to speak about as he hasn’t handed a transfer request in haha? The percentage of players who move clubs compared to players who hand in transfer request must be less than 1% these days. Players don’t need to anymore they hold all the power and clubs know this.
