Spot on, it's weird how many fans see a player for their club/country and think about how he could replicate that perfectly for our club without factoring in the entirely different approaches to the game the two teams have.
If Kane comes here and we see the England Kane where he's dropping into midfield constantly, we aren't a better side, it would be a gigantic waste of money and a hindrance to us. Why would we want our striker playing in midfield getting in the way of players like kdb and gundogan who can do that role much much better and not providing an option upfront for them to find?
If we sign Kane either we change our entire approach which Pep is not going to do or Kane will be expected to develop into a completely different player, a player he's never been. I'm not saying he's not capable of doing that and wouldn't be a success but kanes hefty price tag is mainly because he's the finished article in his style, buying him at the premium levy will demand to then ask him to learn a different game just seems like a waste to me.
It's like paying more to buy a fully furnished high spec house only to immediately rip it all out and replace it when you've got the option of buying something with all the specs you want but unrenovated and cheaper.
The thing is I think he will have to drop deep to find some space.
Like it or not most teams park the bus week in week out, packed defences isn’t gonna give him much room.
So he’ll drop deep and lay the ball off, which would be fine if he had a burst of pace to get onto a return pass or find space.
So he drops deep, lays the ball off and then we break at pace.
Can he keep up without slowing us down?
Doesn’t look like it.
They’ll be no long balls over the top from Eddie for him chase after, well there will but he doesn’t look like he’ll be able to out run a defender.
Both Sergio and Gabby drop deep, so I expect Kane will too.
One of the problems is he currently plays in a wank (ish) Spurs side, where teams have a go, cos well they’re Spurs : )
So he finds space, a luxury he will find lacking at City.
Pep can teach him many things, but speed, stamina and power he can’t.
He’s got the footballing brain, which his body can’t keep up with, more so lately.
I’ve said before he’s a world class goal scorer (maybe) but not a world class player.
Which is why at the price it’s a no from me, along with a few other reasons not listed.
All in my humble opinion of course.
