Harry Kane

I am very much in the Haaland camp, but i think it is Kane we are going for now, Mbappe seems to be hanging on for the big signing on fee, and even with the £ 68 million buyout clause Haaland seems to be doing the same. In the EDS two players have out grown the league Doyle and Delap i can see us running with Kane with Delap as back up, if it works great, if it does not we revert back to the false nine. That also suggests Fernandinho is staying, there is no talk of where he is going and Doyle would need guidance.

it's 2021 and people still think posing in your club's new kit means you're staying, christ almighty

Why anyone attaches any sort of significance to a player appearing in a marketing campaign for their Club’s kit has always baffled me.

These photos will have been shot weeks ago, and the players chosen based on marketability. They are contractually required to appear in club marketing, and the dissemination of kit release content will sit with the marketing teams.

It literally means nothing, but people pull this shit out every summer as somehow being proof of a player’s or club’s intentions.

It’s complete bollocks!

Tevez did it with City, new kit launched on the USA summer tour

Exactly he has scored so many important goals is entering his prime years he deserves another season

It's like they all just want a shiny new toy. We love players that are loyal to us but one of ours goes through a bad spell after being so important in previous seasons and half the forum wants him shipped out to whoever will take him.

I don't think that is the case. Sterling has had an awful season, but in normal circumstances most would just write it off as a bad season based on what he has done previously for the club. The problem is his contract situation. Many on here, are not comfortable with him being offered a bumper new deal given his form.

Its similar to the Aguero situation, we are all incredibly thankful for the great years he had given us, but most were aligned with the club that you cant be giving someone £200k+ pw based on sentiment, while they sit in the stands injured.

Same with Sterling. He has had some fantastic years here but giving him approx £300k pw for the next 4/5 years on the premise that he will return to form, is a huge leap of faith given what we are seeing on the pitch. His main backers on here seem convinced its just a blip and next season he will be back on it. What if he isn't? What if he stinks the place out again and his new contract means we cant move for Haaland, or someone else next summer? Everyone ok with the possible scenario?

I think a new contract is a massive risk, others will say not giving him a new deal is just as big a risk. Ultimately the club will do what they think is right and by all accounts that is giving him the new deal. It doesn't mean we all have to agree with it and it doesn't mean there is some kind of agenda against Sterling, just as there wasn't against Sergio.

Correct. To add to that, if you were Levy, with £200m as your alleged opening gambit, why would you push your prized asset out of the photo shots? Wouldn’t it signal you’re more or less resigned to the outcome?

I'm actually warming to this now. Still prefer Haaland but if you can't get him then it wouldn't be a downgrade at all.

I'd like to think we are his only choice and he's not flirting with other clubs. And I hope we don't drag it out if we have no intention of paying the £100m plus it will take. We know spurs won't lower the fee so I hope we don't waste anyone's time
