Harry Kane

I’d have Walker over Azpilicueta (just), Stones ahead of Thiago Silva but Mount ahead of Bernardo - based on this season’s form. In my view, Mount is England’s most exciting prospect after Foden.
Stones and Silva are very much comparable to me but I wonder if maybe the people in England haven’t followed much of Silva’s career, which is why talking him up sounds strange to some ears. Here in Brazil, if one claims Stones is a better CB than Silva, they’d get... stoned to death (lame pun lol). All about perspective

Thiago Silva was one of the world’s best but Stones has just had the season of his life, so I think it’s fair to rank him as better in this stage of their respective careers.

Harry Kane wants to win trophies and we need a forward.
In the last 4 years domestically we have won 8 of the 12 trophies available (including two doubles and a treble)
He’s coming People don’t think Antonio conte will stop that
Do you have it officially confirmed then? Tell us more...;)

That’s fair. My reasoning was picking one CB from each team to represent the fact both defenses were brilliant in the competition and Dias/Silva seemed like a good idea.

I would like to register here that the xenophobic comment by a poster previously did not go unnoticed by me and I lament that my fair reply to his vile attack was deleted

"Conte is believed to have requested a sizeable transfer budget to rebuild the squad, something Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was unwilling to offer.

That led to a second disagreement – the future of Harry Kane. The England captain his hinted that he is ready to quit the club this summer but would command a hefty transfer fee as he still has three years left on his contract.

It is understood that if Kane was to be sold, however, Conte wanted guarantees that at least part of the fee generated from the sale - likely to be in excess of £100 million ($141m) - would have been used to sign an adequate replacement.

Again, though, the two did not see eye to eye."

So Levy won't reinvest the Kane money which kind of confirms the financial situation that they are in.

100%

The acts of a desperate man. My gut tells me that he needs the big name manager to be able to Sell Kane without a complete supporter mutiny. But even that is beginning to look tricky with the number of rejections he's had.

The irony is that Graham Potter would have been a really good choice, and could easily have been sold as being like Pochettino. Same style of play, good with young players, bit of an underdog.

But if he ever does sign him, he has completely undermined his position already because everyone will now know he was 10th choice or whatever it was now.

Almost worth merging this with the spuds thread. The desperate search bt Levy for a 'name' that is 'worldclass' or a 'winner' is clearly his last hope of keeping Kane.

Could be the opposite - trying to get a world class manager to cover for the fact he's selling Kane... selling Harry and appointing Potter would potentially cause a 'norff Landan' mutiny.

Win the Champions league with Chelsea, take PSG to their first Champions League final , Take over at Dortmund and continue to make them a very good side and Marvin still thinks he is lucky!

I don't claim he is a bad coach. I say he inherited a good group of underperforming, poorly coached players, and got very lucky in the Premier League and had the run of the dice in the Champions League. Next season, we'll see how he does. Di Matteo won the Champions League with CFC. He got lucky. Maybe Tuchel is both good coach and lucky coach but a big contributory factor to his success this season was luck. I am sure he'd say the same. In the 3 recent games we played against CHelsea, had we played our best sides, and usual game, then Chelsea could be 5th and CL runner-up, and losing FA Cup semi-finalists.

Yes, the luck of beating Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and us 3x. Lol. You don’t accomplish that taking over a team of players you had no hand in picking halfway through a season. The evolution of Chelsea under him isn’t just because they won the UCL. You just have to see how many players started performing much better, how tactically smart (especially defensively) that team turned into and how their attitude was adequate.
I can’t predict a hypothetical world, but the intense way Chelsea played in the final, I think it’s very likely they would have won anyway had Fernandinho or Rodri played instead of Sterling. We played against Chelsea with those players and they performed poorly. Sterling was okay in the final. And it’s best for us to accept that and prepare for the future accordingly.
By the way, where was Tuchel’s “luck” when a normal goal was wrongfully disallowed in the FA Cup final? If that had stood, I’d say they would have one more trophy in their season.

Tommy T is a high class coach and Chelsea will strengthen again this summer, next season they will be a title contender and a serious threat, we underestimated them once before to our serious cost, don't do it again.

Harry Kane. 150m. Dealing with that prat Levy. 5 years later he will be worth naff all. It’s a no from me. Erling Haaland 150m. Astronomical wages. Agent and parent fee at an alleged 40m. After a couple of years his agent will start touting him around the world and unsettle the squad like what happened with YaYa It’s a no from me.
Meanwhile Liverpool are lining up Patson Daka if recent reports are true. What’s the betting he will score bucketloads for Liverpool. He will cost probably 25m or thereabouts.
Andre Silva at 40m should be our target. His stats have not been amazing but under Pep and playing in City’s team I believe he would do very well. He is quick 2 footed, good balance, good in the air. With Torres as backup we will be well covered.
Why allow ourselves to be absolutely rinsed by chairman and agents. We should say no and pickup players for a sensible fee who will serve us well.

If we got 5 years of this level Kane I'd be happy. 150mil is fine. What's the point of having "fuck you" money if you dont occasionally say "fuck you"?

Couldn’t disagree more. Why take such a risk on a key position, replacing a club legend with someone whose ‘stats are not great’ and backup who isn’t even a striker?

I really hope City don’t piss about this time and just buy what we need, a top class proven goal scorer. Bollocks to ‘sensible fees’, there are none in football for the very top end players. All that would do is see us struggle to finish chances again and yet again some other fuckers win the CL.

Do you really want the scum to get Sancho, Chelsea get Haaland and Spurs keep Kane while we piss around with someone for a ’sensible fee’? Absolutely no from me. What’s the point in all this commercial income, sky tv money, and ambition to win things if we don’t have the balls to just blow rivals away when the right player becomes available?

We‘re not talking about another winger or back up midfielder here, we need to replace our all time greatest goal scorer. And we already frustratingly waste so many good chances that we create.

We have such a great team, it would be pathetic to have its cutting edge blunted by failing to get the very best finisher we can.

Who gives a shit about his sell on value? Buy a world class player and you don’t sell them if you’re in City’s position. Yaya at 27 was huge money at the time especially with his wages (as we were so often reminded). Think we got our money’s worth there when he went for nowt.

Kane would be an absolute phenomenon playing in a team like ours. 30 league goals wouldn’t be a surprise if he plays 30 games.

So you’re saying replace our greatest ever goal scorer with someone who’s stats, by your words, “have not been amazing”? I bet Txiki is shitting himself

Can’t believe sell on value is still a topic of debate here. We’ve held onto; Kompany, Silva, Aguero, Yaya, Fernandinho, Sterling, KDB etc. through and past (for some) their primes when no doubt huge offers came in.

We keep players who are good unless they’re desperate to leave with no real thinking being taken for their value.

I’m in the ‘why the fuck should we bail spurs out with a cash injection ‘camp. if not taking spursy Kane means they struggle to make top 10 next season...so be it.
