Kane didn't have a particularly good game today but it's the rags who pay out a hundred million for a player based on one game, or a you tube video. Fortunatelt City will judge Kane - and Haaland and everyone else - on the basis of a number of matches and even a number of seasons. And neither of them comes out too badly then!

I’ve been heavily criticized and ridiculed on this forum for saying I would take Lukaku before Kane. Just the first round, but the Belgian scored two yesterday WITHOUT KDB.

That’s a fairly meaningless comparison tbf. Different teams, set ups, opposition etc.
Belgium are the top ranked team in the world and Russia are atrocious. Croatia would see off Russia quite easily.

Every team is different, set up differently etc. But comparing a performance goes beyond that. And there was a huge gap.

Today highlighted the fact that he can be easily wrangled due to his lack of pace and physicality.
Got into some good positions but tried to play passes whereas full form/fitness/confidence Kane buys a yard and gets a shot away. Needs to get that greed back if England are going to do well.

I’m not against buying Kane, would be my third choice if we could just pick. His injuries though isn’t about games he has missed the question is are all the ankle injuries going to weaken the joint and end up being career shortening. I’m not a doctor so don’t know but thats the question the club would be asking the medical people about his injuries.

4th or even 5th choice for me if i'm honest. I'd rather have seen Aguero another year even with his injuries, I think he is that much better than Kane.

But, if the club really are upnfor this, i will be all for it too and delighted if they pull it off. Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't play out the way everyone sewms to think it will though.

Kane looked really uncomfortable playing in that heat. I thought it was scandalous that there was no water break in that first half. Doesn't Kane struggle to score goals for Spurs in August ? I hope we don't value him anywhere near 150 million.
