Harry Kane

What concerns me is that, for all our, forward planning, sophisticated analytics and state-of-the-art scouting system, the best pound for pound striker we've been able to come up with is Harry Kane for £100m.

Something that half the posters on Bluemoon could have come up with in 10 seconds at no cost whatsoever..
It doesn't take any genius or immaculate scouting to figure that Kane is the best option for us. Sometimes the best solution is in front of you, such is the case with Kane, especially his last season's numbers. Not sure how anyone can have a strong argument against it other than bias, or age factor (which isn't even a big concern with him for his profile).

is that the reason he doesnt move and gets the lowest performance score in each game. How come others have played so much better. Perhaps footballs not for you if you cant see his limitations the last three games.
Ok if we get him you be the one who will see the difference in how England play and city in the chances Kane will get compared to England.

If he is coming, I think I'll trust the management team on whether he'll fit into our system or not. :)
You can, they don’t get everything right, look at Mangala, I can’t get excited about this at all because of the above. I hope I am completely wrong if he does sign

I agree, other than that it would be Haaland but his agent is Raiola and we have had issues with him in the past. We saw this season that when teams parked the bus against us it was hard to play our normal passing game through them so we need a crossing outlet when things aren't working out and Kane is absolutely perfect for this.

You are assuming City the football back pages are accurate. Last Summer we were tracking Koulibaly. It was a "done deal", and "imminent", except it was nonsense.

It does appear that City are in for Kane but I don't think you can be critical of City's football machine when we're top of the tree. We're only really one or two players away from an almost invincible side imo. When the leading Premier League striker basically says come and get me. What do you do? Say no thanks, we've had a great scouting report on a 18 year old flying machine in Belgium?

well, in years gone by they've tried to be clever and pick a Mangala or Rodwell out and that worked well...for once in our lives maybe we'll just buy the best ready made by signing Haaland...

To be fair - City as a club don’t usually go for the “easy” option, the finished article. We go for the ones with most potential & turn them into superstars. Doesn’t always work 100% but we’ve done ok over the last 10 years (understatement!!). That has attracted some criticism from fans in the past as they wanted the famous names. Now we might be buying the “finished article” (although Kane will definitely improve under Pep & our system) - fans are still complaining!!

I agree with most of this, and can't understand why we need to depart from our previous way of working.

As for complaining, it's been pretty consistent in the poll that over 40% of posters don't want Kane but I think that every one of those will back him to the hilt if he pitches up in a City shirt.

Dont remember any other possible signing being as devisive amongst us blues.
God there was nothing like this when we were buying the likes of Bradbury,Bob Taylor,Ged Brannan,Buster Phillips,Carl Griffiths some guy from Hull whose name was Lee something or other.Just shows how far we have come we are in for 1 of the worlds top strikers who may or not be our first choice certainly not mine but once that blue shirt goes on i will whole heartedly support.

Jamie Vardy and Danny Ings really missed the boat at the end of last season (19/20). All they had to do was call us...

The only problem with Kane is injuries and his general fitness levels. He always seems unfit but that could be because he starts every game if he is available which won't happen with us because we rotate.

maybe maybe not. This forum is just a bit of fun its all about opinions and we dont have to all agree with each other just because we are City fans.

Who would have thought twenty years ago that we would be discussing whether or not we want one if the best goal scorers in the country at City. With some like me saying they would prefer a different player. Its a funny old world.

Does he fuck. Better overall goal numbers weighted by one and a half wonder season. And that's as a regular starter in a team that plays around him. That's about it.
He plays in a far inferior team than Kane. Jesus will be soon out the door as he is surplus now, hence why pep plans any man and his dog as a false 9 instead of him haha.

If you believe there is any form of argument for Gabby to be mentioned in the same bracket as Harold then football isn’t for you buddy.

How do you think Spurs / Levy will approach this? He's contracted until 2024. His transfer value is not going to drop but £100m is a lot of money in this transfer market and I think most people will think that's a good offer for a player who will be 28 next season. I can't see Spurs wanting to go into next season with their captain wanting to leave and feeling betrayed by his club.

Bob Taylor looked fantastic at Gillingham and I really thought he'd be a massive success at City. You can never tell how well a player will do at a new club, I have a feeling Kane would do better than Haaland at this stage.

plus they are broke with no transfer kitty and no manager. They need some funds to pay off stadium debt and give to the new manager.

How are City are “a far inferior team” too Spurs ? are you sure footballs your thing ?
