Has City explained the logic of buying other football clubs?

Re: Has City explained the logic of buying other football cl

I think many here are perhaps missing a point... If we get a club in Australia, New York, Shanghai or wherever, it doesn´t matter if the local fans support Chelsea, Barcelona, the rags or any club but City.
As long as they attend games, buy the shirt and just support the club we got a stake in... We win!

I speculate it has more to do with airline routes, sales and etihad than world football domination.

As a promotion vehicle for Abu Dhabi and probably to have a global empire around the world.

From the FFP thread

Importantly, Uefa has agreed that City can count key revenue streams such as stadium sponsorship – even if they are from connected parties- and offset losses made by associated sports franchises.

If City's satellite teams make a loss we can offset them!!

Yes, but City's statement a week or so ago also said that we'd agreed to be more clear about transactions between City and other teams in the CFG, which I think is pretty obviously UEFA having closed the loophole of us transferring any cash between MCFC and any other teams. No more selling "intellectual property" for example - not to NYCFC and Melbourne Heart, anyway.

This isn't about what we "sell" to our satellites its about offsetting any losses they make.

Yeah I know. My point is that I get uncomfortable when the other clubs are raised in relation to FFPR in the first place because I truly don't believe that FFPR has anything to do with why we bought them, except indirectly through things like a global academy system saving us on transfer fees in 10 years time and through extending our merchandising reach cross the globe.

Am I the only one a little concerned when the words such as domination are included in posts? Of course we want success but I don't want to win everything all the time by dominating the sport because that takes away sport from the equation.

I want City to compete in as many competitions as possible but I don't want to dominate them every year.

I want to be challenging for the Premier league most seasons but if we win it every single year it's no longer a sport. I don't want every season to go to the wire but if we won it (say) 5 out of the next 10 seasons and were close enough in the other 5 I'd be absolutely delighted, beyond what I should be expecting. If we won it 10/10 I'd suggest by the 5th time or so it would be a big turn off for many fans including some of us.

As for other competitions, again making progress in Europe would be good but for me it's not the be all and end all. If we were to win it once in the next 5 years or so it would be fantastic but if we didn't I wouldn't be too upset either.

When Caesars Palace started a Casino in Atlantic City it was not to let Caesars Palace in Las Vegas make a profit..and neither was all the other ventures that followed.
No, it was all to the benefit of Caesars Entertainment Corporation which now is the world's most geographically diversified casino-entertainment company. Since its beginning in Reno, Nevada, more than 75 years ago, Caesars has grown through development of new resorts, expansions and acquisitions, and now operates casinos on three continents. The company's resorts operate primarily under the Harrah's®, Caesars® and Horseshoe® brand names.

Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is still the glamour casino but it´s not in any way the mean all, end all for CEC..
