Have you all turned on Hughes?

Its his lack of man management skills that are leading to his downfall. Unless I'm missing something he does not seem to be able to get people on side. A natural leader knows that his most important resource is his people. People who enjoy going into work generally perform well and take a pride in their own and ultimately their teams performance - Mark Hughes dosen't seem to be able to get the basics right in creating a working environment where people feel valued and want to do well for him.

to sum up then. fire mh.Get mourinho.sit back and watch the trophy cabinet fill up{there is plenty of room}.And as in all fairy-tales they all lived happily ever after.Apart from the mourinho out mob after he sold superman and swp and petrov and boj.Be careful what you wish for

Blue Peter, re Spurs:

Yep, they replace him with Ramos, who won a TROPHY in his first year in charge!

They replaced him with Redknapp, who also, IN HIS FIRST YEAR IN CHARGE, got to the final of a Cup at Wembley...and might very well qualify for Europe this season as well.

All in ONE season!

Just goes to show that when you win a cup its more down to luck. The difference is in the UEFA Cup we have probably played more games in this one season than they played in 2 seasons in the Carling Cup.

Right. So if City (and Hughes) win the UEFA Cup this season, it's just down to "luck"?
Dearie me.

Could I also point out that the idiot Ramos won the UEFA TWICE before he took over at Spurs... as is currently managing Real Madrid! Spurs cocked up with Jol and then Ramos. They were both good managers who achieved. Just like Redknapp.

WE have Hughes. Never achieved a thing in almost 8 years of management.

And your comment that City fans sacked a number of managers... absolute bollocks!

I have seen chairmen since Swales, through to Lee, then Bernstein, and Thaksin and Mubarak... and not ONE of them ever asked the opinion of a City fan as to whether or not they sacked the manager.

They all made their own choices, all made their own decisions... with NO reference to the supporters.

I was never asked my opinion. None of my mates were asked their opinions. Did they ask you?

Stop spouting bollocks and talk real.

I can see you're struggling badly with facts, so maybe just stick to your self-important, attention-seeking opinions rather than show yourself up when it comes to dealing in facts.

Argue your point, but don't talk out of your arse.

I have said for a while that he and anyone else, barring the disaster of a relegation battle, deserves at least a season and I stand by that. That said if we don't win and go through on Thursday for all intents and purposes our season is over, so I suppose I'll be better placed then.

For what it's worth I think Hughes had a tough job, made harder by difficult players, a blood-thirsty media, fans unwilling to give the man a chance, and the increased expexctation that comes with being the richest club in the world.

But he's not done himself any favours either. I don't know if it's entirely his fault but I've been sick to death this year of the club airing its dirty laundry in public. It's just not professional and it's incredibly devisive. Also, let's be totally honest, we haven't improved throughout the season. We've shown patches of brilliance but far too sporadically to call it progress. Hughes's lack of a plan B (which was also Sven's problem, funnily enough) has been evident and he's failed to get the best from his players. Some would suggest that he's bought well and I can definitely understand that argument. However, I look at De Jong, Kompany, Zabaleta and I don't see them getting into a top three or four side. They're committed and tough but on the ball they fail to impress for the most part. Whilst it might seem as if I'm picking on players who have been amongst our best, I'm just highlighting that these guys haven't exactly turned our fortunes. Some will also give Hughes the credit for changing the fortunaes of our player of the year, Stephen Ireland, but it's my understanding that the credit should go to the player and he alone, as he made a conscious decision pre-season to up his game.

I have been one of the 'give him time' bunch, and justifiably so in my opinion, but it seems that with a mountain to climb on Thursday his time might well be running out.

i don't see what sacking a manager after one season does, it won't improve us in the short term as you basically have to start again, let the new manager "settle in" and stamp their mark on the team. Say this takes half a season, at least, we could be struggling in the league, out of cups the lot, so fans call for his head and the cycle continues. Now by no means am I impressed or pleased with recent performances but sacking Hughes now would just unsettle it all again. We'd be better off giving him at least another season to see what he can do,who he can buy and whether he can get players to perform again. Then let the owners consider his future if there is a lack of improvement, but in my eyes sacking him would'nt help our cause at this moment in time.

keeping a poor manager for the sake of stability is not the answer though.

I just wanted to see some improvement this year. I wasn't expecting us to be challenging the Big Four or winning any trophies. Regardless of who's signings they ultimately were, you would think that after spending so much in the transfer market and adding players to a team that already finished ninth, you would see a marked improvement. Even with the inclusion of five of six of Hughes's lads, I haven't seen ANY consistent improvement and it's becoming frustrating.

If results do not go our way this weekend and with a very tough game against Everton to come we are right back in the thick of it as far as relegation goes.

I know we should beat WBA all things being equal and that would more than likely secure our premiership status and it seems their cause is lost although Fulham had less points than they did this time last season and survived.

Everytime it seems we have something to strive for we fail to step up to the plate.

While Thursday is an important game as far as the season is concerned , Sunday could well turn out to be far more important.

I don't buy this we need to sacrifice a game for the sake of another one for one second.

Despite giving Fulham 3 gift chances through sloppy pathetic defending which we seem to do far too often in each and every game we participate in , in the first 10 minutes on Saturday we were 1-0 up against a team who had won one game all season away from home and scored 3 goals in their first 14 away games in the premiership.

We had the cattle and personnel on the bench to put the game to rest despite perhaps being somewhat fortunate to be infront at half time.

We were piss poor after half time and deserved nothing from the game and we will lose against WBA if we continue to play with that attitude and approach to our football on COMS on Sunday.

We go into Thursday on the back on 3 defeats and win lose or draw on Thursday I would expect nothing short of 100 per cent and an easy win on Sunday no matter who we start and anything less and we in for a fight for surviival that very few players look likely to be relishing.

So the people that wanted Robinho were wrong because they didn't understand the big picture and he was being saved for Thursday night.

Then he brings him on 8 minutes later?

And he was once again very ineffectual , whether the bulk of the players want Hughes to go or whether some of them have been told they have no future at the club irrespective of whether Hughes stays or goes is immaterial to me and should be to every City supporter.

They proved once again on Sunday they are not up to scratch and Hughes proved once again he is struggling when it comes to tactics, player managment and harnessing expectations of the fans the public in general.

All in all the side need major changes both in motivation , gameplan and personnel and despite major changes this season in personnel with have gone backwards from last season and there is no real sign we will improve next season either despite seeming haveing loads of cash to " seemingly improve the starting eleven ".

Indeed.

If our form were to implode during the next two weeks, I wonder what odds on Sven being back in his hotel (in Manchester) to see us out of the season & safety in the Prem, while our esteemed new owners (who have only my respect) go about deciding who to give the car keys to for the next two to three years minimum.
