Yeah, I've got a picture of Big Helen, and my, then 8 year old daughter outside COMS...chuffed my dughter got to meet a true city legend

Here she is in her heyday waiting to see the victorious 1969 FA Cup winners in Manchester.

I had the pleasure of sitting next to Helen in the North Stand in the early 90's, I was only 12 or 13 and didn't really have a clue about City, at first I'll be honest I thought 'bloody hell I'm sat next to an old lady', not good for the street cred at my age but as she started to tell me all her stories about travelling away to places like Juventus and having to use the male toilets and the atmosphere in Italy, she mentioned City winning trophies which I had only dreamed of seeing. I sat there and was amazed, I couldn't believe we had even played Juventus and teams like that, I was only used to us being garbage and losing so she filled me with hope, from that day I knew my club could get to the top and she inspired me to follow City for the rest of my life and I thank her for it and hope she is resting in peace in the North Stand up in the sky.

God Bless Helen ' the bell'

Her ashes are in the memorial garden at COMS. She did have a couple of seasons at COMS, but died a few years ago.

I remember when her family came out before kick off after she died and rang the bell for one last time. It went into the museum after that.

Didn't quite get the bell thing as a young teenager. But joined in the banter along with the rest of the Kippax choir:

Helen Helen ring your bell, Helen ring your bell
derding derding derding derding derding derding derding derding
yaaahhhyyyy
Helen is a big fat football hooligan, Helen is a big fat football hooligan

(She wasn't a hooligan obviously although she was a bit on the large side).

Maine Road Legend.
RIP

A great woman. Think she passed away before we moved to CoMS, fitting in a way, she was a real icon of Maine Road. Probably the most high-profile City fan of all time. Did a lot of fundraising, by all accounts. I'll be honest, her bell bloody annoyed me at times, but a real symbol of the club, would love to hear it ringing out at Eastlands now she's gone. She had a flower stall at one of the hospitals for years, may've been St Mary's, i forget now. There's a great photo of her on the pitch with the team after one of our cup final wins (before we became allergic to silverware!). RIP Hells. A true legend.
She did go to COMS shortly before she died. My son nursed her at the MRI & we met her at the stadium when she was briefly allowed out of hospital. Can't remember which match though.

While she was working at Manchester Royal they had a big painting of her with her City colours on. I think it was at the 2nd floor staircase but not sure if its still there.
