Higuain to Arsenal?

Arsenal deal off?

Didn't Higuain have a season under MP at Madrid? Pretty sure if he rated him highly we'd at least be considering it. I think the fact there's no links to him suggest either we have zero interest in him, or just as likely, he has zero interest in coming to City and playing second fiddle to Kun.

I don't have time to check now how Higuain did in that year under Pellegrini. However, as I saw someone else note somewhere on here this morning, I do seem to recall Higuain's wastefulness being a contributory factor to Real's defeat to Lyon in the CL. Could be a reason why Manuel doesn't remember the player too fondly?

Possibly but you'd like to think guys like Pellegrini and Txiki wouldn't be judging a player solely on one poor performance. Imagine some of our lot being judged based on Southampton away last season, or Ajax away.

I keep banging this drum, but with Kun being our undisputed number 1, and Dzeko seemingly going nowhere, it's going to be hard to entice the right forward. Bring in someone like Cavani or Higuain and push Dzeko further down the pecking order and he'll be become unsettled again. It also then means we have a third choice forward on 175k a week who came with a 30 million euro transfer fee.

If there is going to be a big signing, I suspect it'll be an attacking midfield/wide player.

BINGO.

Isco represented not only the end of Tevez but the dawn of a new way of playing.

Apparently an Arsenal delegation left Madrid without his signature, and there is talk that Wenger may now be seeking a cheaper alternative.

Actually, I agree with that. We need another forward but it will have to be someone who's prepared to come off the bench a fair bit and generally start the less high-profile league fixtures. Higuain isn't really the right type for that, I guess.

Incidentally, he scored 27 in 32 La Liga games in Pellegrini's season at Real and 29 in 40 games overall so Manuel may rate him based on that strike rate.
