Holidays

Aw shit completely jealous. A road trip of Italy is on my bucket list
JFDI as they say 8-)
Been to the Amalfi coast a couple of times, stayed in Amalfi and hired a car both times and drove down from Naples, Amalfi coast road is spectacular and loads of places to vist, Salerno, Paestum, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Ravello, Sorrento, Naples itself all within an easy drive.
Did a similar trip to Tuscany a couple of years ago , based ouselves in San Gimignano and visited various places, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and Volterra are all really worth a visit. Florence is superb but deserves more than a day trip. I got a fine in the post from Lucca for driving in a prohibited area EIGHTEEN months after we got home, typical Italians!

Looking forward to my four night stay in “Jimmy” in March to celebrate my birthday.
Hopefully be around 20 degrees and looking forward to seeing the Plaza Espanya.

My son is in Seville this week with his family, 28 degrees and really sunny yesterday. My newest grandson arrived in November and they had to get a bloody passport for him! I thought you could still add a baby to mum or dad's passport but not the case

Provence is always nice, beautiful vineyards. Madeira, especially if you stay at Reid’s Palace. Further afield, Taiwan is an amazing place to visit, proper cultural eye-opener like Japan. Good food, warm weather, mountain hikes, luxury shops and restaurants in the big cities.

That’s been the case since 1998!

The finest city in Europe. Had our 2nd visit over Christmas. Why this place is not ranked up alongside Paris, Rome and Barcelona, I’ll never know.

The Plaza Espana is epic and is one of three world-class things to see, the others being the Real Alacazar and The Catherdral+Girlada. Plenty of other things to see as well and I’m sure you’ll love it.

March, you say? We may have our in-depth city guide up on YouTube by then.

Wanting a bit of advice re Cruise's. Im pretty well travelled through both holidays and international working, but have never been on a cruise.

Any advice regarding the best Cruise lines to go for ?

What I really dont want is one rammed with kids, like butlins on sea, but also not one full of ten bob millionaires.

Any recommendations?

Fly to a different country and board from there. Less chance of it being full of Scousers.

Going to Kitzbuhel, Austria later in the year. Anyone been?
I’ve been there once for a week whilst skiing but it was a few years ago. We all really enjoyed it, good food, good beer and plenty of bars etc. I found it friendly as well except for one restaurant where the owner openly stated he didn’t like the English, he liked us even less after we walked out before the food arrived.

I don’t know what it’s like outside the skiing months but I’ve been to Austria a few times and it’s a stunning country and somewhat underrated. I assume some of the lifts will stay open during the Summer but if you’re going skiing Kitzbuhel is home to the famous Hahnenkamm Downhill, if you want to come home on a stretcher.

Hope you have a good time.

Off to Alicante for the weekend.

After booking a relatively cheap flight, we sat down and looked what was in Alicante and decided that the castle aside, there's not too much to see (apart from what will be a nice walk along the front and harbour).

So we've spending tomorrow in Elche, which looks to have some interesting sites.

Doing my third one in a couple of weeks.

MSC & TUI are the ones I've used, MSC was more cosmopolitan and better food overall.

The big thing though for me is to pay the extra for a balcony. On our first we had an inside cabin as well as being closed in Mrs Moon's assorted sprays hung in the air forever.

A four night stay in Jimmy might result in a sore arse and therapy for the rest of your life
