Holidays

What do you think of Qatar for a family holiday with two kids? From what I’ve gathered so far, we’ll need an e-visa, which we can easily get here: https://e-visa-qatar.com/. I also know that there are package holidays available, which might make things more convenient. But beyond that, I’d love to hear more insights! Are there family-friendly attractions, good beaches, or fun activities for kids? How easy is it to get around with a family? Any recommendations for places to stay or things we absolutely shouldn’t miss? I want to make sure this trip is as enjoyable as possible for everyone

Thinking of going back to Cuba at the end of may with my Mrs and our three teenage sons
14 nights in Varadero and a couple of nights in Havana
I went back in 2006 so see if it’s changed much since Castro passed away

Off to Malaga for a few days tomorrow. Staying in the centre of town and doing as little as possible. Couldn't have come at a better time as beginning to get hacked off with this relentless miserable weather.

Agree with RobMCFC, Seville is the nuts. Malaga is a smaller version of Seville and very underrated.

Yes, we went to Malaga last year, mainly as a point of entry/exit to visit Cordoba. But we were really impressed with Malaga - the castle, Alcazaba and cathedral were fantastic.

Let’s face it, Andalusia is superb throughout and has the best architecture in Europe.

Edinburgh in March with a day visit to Dundee. Hoping to visit a cemetery in Dundee as my grandfathers brother is buried there. Ran away from home to sign up in Scotland to fight in first world war (aged 15). Got killed in action and don't think any family ever been to grave

Miami for 6 nights in June then move on to Boston for a week.

Somewhere in UK in September, maybe Lake District and visit friends in Durham

Was thinking of Beijing next week till i realised its colder than here at the mo so sod that .
Changed plans and now looking at Kota Kinabalu in Borneo.

I’m meant to be going with my daughter and her friend in October, what documentation do we need other than passports?
You need to fill out an ESTA, can do it online and it costs $21 each which is about £17 I think mate. Really straight forward, feel free to give me a shout if you need any help with it though

Is that the 'island' part? My ex Mrs went there years ago.....so many mozzies it was like fog!! Hopefully that's a 'time of year' thing!
It is. Been a couple of times. They fog for mozzies every night.
Anyone that's had to put up with black flies, deer flies, stable flies and horse flies every summer will consider mozzies a luxury ; )

Going to Kitzbuhel, Austria later in the year. Anyone been?
Yes I've been, in summer, so obviously there was no snow. It was pretty quiet, a lot of places were closed, but we did manage to find a few decent bars. One bar in particular was great, cant remember the name of it, but inside it looked like it was carved out of a rock, the owner was brilliant, if a little bonkers, and the drinks were the cheapest we found. Ask around I'm sure you'll find it, it's only a small town.
We ate in the hotel, so can't really comment on the restaurants.
In some pubs they play a game of knocking a nail in a tree trunk, it's their main pub pastime, I guarantee you'll have a go at some point.
The town itself is spotlessly clean, no litter or dog poo.
If you like walking you'll love it. We climbed up the mountain that they use for the slalom skiing, the mousetrap is something else, can't believe they throw themselves off it, nutters.
There's a cafe half way up, and one at the top. It took a good few hours but was worth it. We got the cable car down, which decided to break down mid descent, but that's another story.
We also hired bikes and rode the few miles to the next town, which had a large lake near it, lots of watersports going on.
A nice place to visit, the scenery is beautiful, but some might find the town a little too quiet out of season.
Hope you have a great trip.
