Any tips/vews on Dubrovnik in September/October?
Cool place .
One of the best landings into an airport .
I’d stay in Lapad area as the hotels are (IMHO) much nicer and have better vistas.
Do the walls either, on a day when the cruise ships aren’t in the port, or in the afternoon when most of the day trippers have gone back .
The islands are delightful and there’s small ferries that transport you around very cheaply . Cavtat is up the coast and is delightful . There is loads of history and things to do including the Game of Thrones tours, trips to Mostar , the surrounding hills and various coastal trips make it a lovely place to visit.

I'm going America in a couple of weeks.
Flying Manchester - Dublin - nashvile.
Both flights are with aer lingus.
Does anyone know if I'll have to collect suitcase at dublin and check it in again or whether they just transfer it from one plane to the other and i dont have to get involved?

If it's all one ticket it will go straight through. You should also be able to do US immigration at DUB.

I would echo @asgoodasitgets.
I stayed in Lapad which has great restaurants and you avoid the cruise crowds.
In addition though and if you have the budget go to the Panorama Restaurant on top of Mount Srj. The food and vista are unbelievable but book early and take a sweater with you. Book it in time to see the sun go down.
I took a day trip into Mostar and Crevice waterfalls which is brilliant and an alternative is Kotor Bay in Montenegro.

We are going to San Francisco, Carmel, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and NY from 8 July.

We have been to NY a number of times so know it well.

Anyone got any tips on the places in California listed above?

I know the obvious, such as avoid Union Square and SOMA at nights, get a travel pass for SF, go to Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate etc..

Maybe @FogBlueInSanFran cannot help?

Any tips much much appreciated. Ta

Went to SF about 30 years ago. Alcatraz was excellent. I also walked the Golden Gate bridge. Great experience but quite scary when you get about half way across and its shaking. Also ride the trams if you get the chance.
On the same trip took in Carmel. Nice beach and lots of expensive shops. It was also a very expensive toll road to drive down the road Clint Eastwood lived in
