Holidays

Just returned from a week in Georgia with my lad.
I absolutely loved the country - welcoming, great food, great value and the most spectacular scenery.
We stayed in Tiblisi, then Kutaisi, and then Borjomi, travelling between each on local mini-buses for very little cost (about £4 for a three hour mountain trip).

Sea will be freezing!

For the drinkers in the group- care needed in Benidorm. Don’t go off the beaten track at night when pissed. Always better to stay in groups where possible.
Temperature is forecast about 24 centigrade...surely that will warm the sea a bit. Yeah i heard Benidorm can be bad for pickpockets & scams so I'll be carefull.

Generally not at this time of year it won’t. If you go October/Nov with a full summer of warming it will but with a winter behind it, it will be lucky to be 15 degrees which isn’t for the faint hearted!

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll kick harder & flap my arms about...that should stop me going into hypothermic shock.

It is a man made beach. There is a calm end near the McDonalds and Subway at the end of the promenade under the ski wire. That will be warm enough once youre in if the sun is out. I was swimming it in at the end of January last year

Thinking of Singapore at some point soon , any advice or tips ?
Stopped there briefly going to and from Bali. Its a great City very expensive for drinks. We enjoyed some very good and incredibly Chinese food at a hawkers market had a walk round Marina bay area, some drinks at Clarke Quay area.
Went over to Sentosa but it was a bit too Disney/plastic for our liking. There was a really good light show down near the river at night. If you like hiking we went out on the metro to Macquarrie national park ,bit jungle type terrain and lots of wild monkeys.WOuld happily go again.

Just back from a week in Sharm El Sheikh with the family after a bit of winter sun. Absolutely loved it - great hotel, absolutely first class for food, drinks, service and spotless. We paid the same amount to go to Sidari last August and the contrast in the quality couldn't be starker. Greece was absolutely bare bones but Sharm was top class.

There was loads to do - the snorkelling was something else! Dune buggies in the desert, visiting the Church and Mosque and it was great talking to the locals and they were all excited for Ramadan. No mithering near shops and just good fun and respectful. Obviously Sharm and Hurghada aren't representative of the whole country but we've been impressed.

I was very sceptical about going but it was an exceptional holiday and we're planning to go back next February half term.

Honestly, Egypt and Turkey walk all over Greece.

Thanks mate. Im going at the end so it shouldn't be too cold in the water.

Very unnerving when it lasts longer then 5 mins isn’t it. Did the Captain try to reassure people?

We had pretty bad turbulence once flying back from Barbados which is a night flight. Flying over the Ocean at night and being jolted around is not a good experience and it put me off overnight flights to be honest,

You can check expected Turbulence before you fly now on

Not sure if that helps though!

I'm addicted to this site now, it's always spot on as well

I haven't been back to Uppermill in Saddleworth for 60 odd years so I have just booked an appartment for a long weekend in May which coincides with our last game of the season. Not really much of a holiday but I'm really looking forward to showing Mrs S where i used to live, go to school etc. I believe that Uppermill has gone all gentrified too and has a nice line in pubs, cafes etc not to mention great walks.
