We have a Samsung 40" Smart TV, Samsung sound bar and big black box, which I assume is the subwoofer. I'm not all that fussed about what everything is called, who made it, so long as it accurately outputs the TV sound. The system is about ten years old.
The problem is, the subwoofer sometimes fails to play any bass volume - almost as if there's is an intermittent loose wire connection somewhere within. It happens randomly, as we are watching TV, not changing channels or touching anything.
The wire to the subwoofer goes into the unit, not through a plug. The unit is sealed, so I can't open it and check for loose connections. It comes from the sound bar, which has its own power supply. The connection to the sound bar is good, as far as I can tell.
Can anyone help with my options please? I assume they are:
1. Fix the subwoofer. Is this possible? Cost effective? Would I need to send it off or take it somewhere? How long would it take?
2. Buy a new speaker system? Can anyone recommend a mid range one, please?
3. Should I be looking for a new, more modern system?
Many thanks in advance.
