Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Had the pleasure of Donald's company on a train coming home from a away game late seventies he was explaining the hooligan event's of the day ," half their mob was in front us half was behind us and the other half was waiting outside the station " evidently fractions not his specialist subject happy days
You should of asked where the other half were then?

Main reason rags were all over town before a Derby and after wasn’t just cockney reds but mainly any who needed the 53 route learned to abandon it on Derby day and get to the swamp or Maine Rd via town

After doing the poor cunts on the 53 ......they'd turn to Hyde Road and brick the 210 buses full of reds coming from town.

Utd didn't like Gorton back then.

Remember daft Donald on the service going to Huddersfield, he was banned came up to me do you think they’ll recognise me he said he had a surgical mask on haha. Seen him after the game he’d fucked off to the funfair while the match was on, got on the 192 about midnight he got off longsight way cadging on the bus

The cup final replay in 1981 stands out for me as a particularly nasty evening. City fans outnumbered by 5-to-1 it seemed, Spurs fans everywhere and lots of fighting throughout the whole match. I remember before then going up with my dad to get tickets from the Wembley box office. Which was just a shitty brick hut in the car park. It was dark, pissing down and there were thousands there all trying to get to a couple of windows. The crush was genuinely scary and I did think I'd lose my dad. But we got there somehow and managed to get a couple of tickets for the 'away" end, cos clearly this rearranged Thursday night replay was always going to be a home game for Spurs. We were the only Mancs there amongst a heaving throng of strangers with strange accents, that evening will live with me forever. And then there was the gane itself, amazing memories if for the wrong result.

hated Spurs ever since boss.

Saw a blue stabbed in the stomach after the game slumped against a wall in the car park.

Cockney bastards.

That's horrible, hope it wasn't serious for that fella. I've hated Spurs since then too! Went to the next league game at WHL after the final and again the tension and simmering anger from City fans was palpable. But didn't see any trouble.
