Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Aaah , i was on John Nash form 1969-1979 .... good times , we used to play footie on the library car park, and on Birley High School ... Hulme in those days was a hell of a place!

I was about 12 when i moved there ... one of my mates lived on Charles Barry.

I still go down there quite often , but it's full of student accomodation and new housing now ... althought the Zion , and the Hippodrome are still there.
We played footie at the front of the library either on pathway or on the grass in front of flats. Mum worked in chippy for years. Great fun place as a kid and half hour walk to Maine Road

Lol ... the only reason we moved to Hulme in the first place was becasuse the council were demolishing our terraced houses on land close to where the fuckin' Etihad now stands!

Funny how life turns out eh?

I'll start again
Millwall late in the 90s was 1 of the biggest kick offs I've seen
3-0 Win and it all went off in the North Stand big time
Prior to that it had been a licking off Before as they all got off the Train at Stockpile
And after around Rusholme going back to Picadilly
Under the banner of Millwall... but there was every London firm there bar West Ham who despise Millwall. The MacIntyre documentary where he infiltrated the Millwall firm showed that up... there was even Reading and Watford in amongst the Millwall that day...and yet years later one of their main boys refuses to accept their rentamob status, insisting that they simply have 'a lot of sleepers who come out for big occasions'

They were faggots. As soon as they knew they might get a smack they scuttled off back to the home counties. The surprise element had gone by half time

Because of living in Essex used to go to lots of games in London in early 80s - went to a Spurs v Rags game where cockney reds fought the spurs fans over to one side of the Shelf part of the ground - all trouble died down for about 15 minutes until about 100 lunatics appeared from the back of the ground and after sorting out the cockney reds turned their attention to the Spurs lads and chased them out as well - that's the first time I'd ever seen Millwall in action, at the time, absolute nutters.
