Pretty sure Tueart’s achilles injury was the previous season (1981-82) though. It happened as he was running with the ball in a game at Maine Road with no one around him. Went down like he’d been shot.

I have just been watching City v Spurs from Feb 83, a 2/2 draw on you tube and Dennis Tueart was playing.

Another interesting point they mentioned that I didn't remember was Bond had been followed by private detectives probably arranged by the club (Swales).
There were also quite a few Swales out banners even then.

He was never popular. Think he was tolerated up to bringing Big Mal back, because those were decent years. So he became widely unpopular in about 1980 I’d say. What a fucking disaster that was btw. Bringing Malcolm back. Swales should have gone for that fucking abortion alone.

Yes poisonous, back stabber, and I didn't realise it at the time but no checks and balances in the boardroom to get to the right decisions, just yes men so a tinder box ready to go up
 
did it ever come out in the wash as to why john bond was made to walk away?

there were rumours of some private life scandal, weren't there?
and a director basically threatening to tell the press unless he left.

No, it appeared very abrupt. Which is often a sign of extracurricular stuff.

Think he’d lost the dressing room by then, though. If so, he probably felt relived. Must be a horrible thing to deal with.

we were skint though and already in freefall.
it wasn't his fault we couldn't buy decent players.
it all went to pot after he left.

that said
playing kevin was never going to win him friends long term.

and his accent was definitely a bit awry.

but i'm sure there was a rumour one of the directors had hired a private investigator to follow him and had some indiscreet photos or summat

Swales caused us many years of misery and disappointment that I can't forgive and forget. If I ever get dementia I hope Swales is the first person I can't remember.
