House Of The Dragon (GOT Prequel)

Liked the first episide, but as soon as limbs and heads started to be hacked off and the fake orgasms started, I thought, urghh, do I really need to see this again? Sure what the hell, why not.

It made me really nostalgic for 2011. It's really amazing how they manage to bring back the feeling of the first season of GOT with just a shot of some dismembered limbs being thrown onto a cart or a brothel with seemingly no walls, just loads and loads of curtains

The first episode was OK, not great.

For me:
* Too much tell. Great stories show.
* Pointless homages to Game of Thrones (e.g., GoT theme song background music).
* No memorable moments.
* No memorable characters

By way of contrast, the first episode of Game of Thrones:
* All show, no tell. Let the audience sort out who's who and what's going on by showing them.
* Several awesome, very memorable moments - The White Walker scenes; the beheading of a deserter; Bran thrown
off a high tower
* Numerous memorable, unique characters.

I rate House of The Dragon (why isn't it called House of Dragons instead) 3/5 so far. Supposedly the series picks up (according to reviewers who have watched the entire first season) later on so I'll continue watching.

Hard to tell but I think they might have dropped a big bollock by cutting the music budget / deciding there wasn't time for an extensive incidental score.

Plenty of other worries, the big one seems to be, does this really have the heart of GOT? It was so schlocky for long periods, but it got away with it for years. This is more even all round, but it might be totally wasted, another dull, talky CGI fest. The dialogue, budget constraints, maybe it all needs to be WORSE so I trust that they're holding back for good bits.
