House Of The Dragon (GOT Prequel)

Have you read the thread?
It's 11 pages long - I've not read every post.

At the same time - I think that the majority thread sentiment - from what I've read - aligns 100% with my post - the opening episode is a pretentious homage to GOT with none of the exciting moments, sublime acting, memorable characters or excellent original music from the GOT first episode.

I rate House of the Dragon's first episode at 3/5.

House of the Dragon is every bit as exciting as the Amazon ho-hum... yawn... series Wheel of Time - and not a bit more. I've stopped watching Wheel of Time (and I loved Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series - the video adaptation does no justice at all to Jordan's books).

Supposedly, House of the Dragon picks up about 10 episodes in. So I'll continue watching... maybe.

But, supposedly, the House of the Dragon series starts to pick up about 10 episodes in. So I'll continue watching... maybe.
I haven’t seen it but I have read the thread. I think 50% aligned with you might be closer to the mark. Fair play if you persist in watching 10 episodes waiting for it to pick up. Would be no more than 2 or 3 for me before I canned it

I wasn't going to watch this given how GoT ended. But decided to anyway and the first two episodes aren't bad. Nothing unique, just the usual backstabbing at court and strong women who want to change the status quo plotlines but it hasn't been awful.

I still think I would have preferred a series that covered Robert's rebellion than this but I will watch this to the end to see where it goes.

The first episode was OK, not great.

For me:
* Too much tell. Great stories show.
* Pointless homages to Game of Thrones (e.g., GoT theme song background music).
* No memorable moments.
* No memorable characters

By way of contrast, the first episode of Game of Thrones:
* All show, no tell. Let the audience sort out who's who and what's going on by showing them.
* Several awesome, very memorable moments - The White Walker scenes; the beheading of a deserter; Bran thrown
off a high tower
* Numerous memorable, unique characters.

I rate House of The Dragon (why isn't it called House of Dragons instead) 3/5 so far. Supposedly the series picks up (according to reviewers who have watched the entire first season) later on so I'll continue watching.
Fair call that, the show don't tell is paramount for any good story and this is getting to close to lazyness in that respect. It still has promise but some characters need to punch out more. Like you say nobody really stands out. Far better than the last 2 seasons of GoT's though.

This is never going to have any bite, until one of the blondes gets bent over.
I'll wait till the season's out but the second episode seems to have a longer walk through than the first and is dying on its arse, through lack of solid characters.

Ticking along very nicely,characters continue to develop and foundations continue to be laid.The deceit and treachery is seemingly already in full flow.

No complaints here.

My only problem with this and GOT is I need a bloody flow chart when it comes to names, families and relationships, I can’t keep up with who is who and related to who etc. Still it has dragons and titties so I’m happy. Oh and the hand is the clever one ;)

Yeah very little action but a lot of character development in the current episode with the pieces falling into place.

I really enjoyed it
