How do I stop cats crapping on my lawn

Make friends with it, give it some attention and gain it's trust. Maybe give it a treat or two. Let it in the house if it wants to. It will then regard you and your garden as its home, and will do its toilet elsewhere.
That's been my experience anyway.
No need to be cruel to it, you cant win with a cat, but you can have a deal.

But as an experiment I am going to finish my cider and pop through the hedge into the neighbours garden.
