I could not have put it better. Whoever comes up with that slogan at the next election will certainly get my vote.
Voting for slogans is never a good idea. It's what has landed us in the mess we are currently in.

The EU opened negotiations with Turkey about 20 years ago on joining and that’s as far as they have got so far so I wouldn’t hold your breath
Think you'll find Human Rights issues play a large part in the Eu decision on Turkey.

I think you’ll find that Albania is not the European Capital for Human Rights either.Think you'll find Human Rights issues play a large part in the Eu decision on Turkey.
I little bit of a wager. My money is on more will want to leave than join in the next 20 years, particularly if they are allowed a vote on it. Macron has admitted his Country would probably vote out. So much for Human Rights.12 countries have joined the EU in that time.
Hmm interesting. I don’t recall the EU ever saying they would be swiftly integrated, from memory it was they would have to start again.Turkey’s population is larger than any EU country, and it is culturally and geographically extremely different from most EU countries, so its accession was always fanciful.
Scotland was an integrated EU member and would be fully and comparatively swiftly reintegrated were it an independent applicant.
