I am not 66 yet. Went in to semi retirement at 50 to persue other things that were more profitable. Fully retired pre Covid. It would be a very brave Political Party who went back on State Pension commitments. They have already had a battle with the Ladies when they equalised it to the men’s. In all fairness if it didn’t happen it’s not going to change anything whatsoever. I will give them more than 1/2 back through my Council Tax, but there are some sensitive souls on here who are easily offended by anybody with a few quid except for the Great Sheikh of course because he funds something they are interested in so that’s OK

I was going to add "if I get there " however yes its like the baton in a relay race - I need it in my hand before we cross that line on the track but the bloody track officials are allowed to move that line along should they wish....

Just asking for confirmation as it seems unclear from last few pages.
What is your problem. When someone asks me a question or makes an assumption that is wrong, what do you want me to do ignore them.
In the art of debate , which is what this thread is all about, it is often a good idea to explain where one is coming from and then it helps others understand why they may feel a certain way about things. Simple concept really, but if you don’t want to hear my opinion or response the easiest option is to block me. I promise I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Johnson and co are getting another thing wrong here with their changes to the Protocol - they want the DUP back in Stormont to give the impression all is well in NI - however even the DUP have woken up to the fact that they have been done over by the Tories time and time again and have seen through their plan.
The DUP are aware that the proposed changes are just enabling legislation - that is no guarantee that they will get what they want so they have "welcomed" the proposals but given no commitment to going back into shared power. Many think that is because they want another round of elections which will have to be called 6 months after the last lot if there is no power sharing Govt sat in Stormont. The DUP are gambling that by scaring their community with the "threat" of a united island of Ireland that they will be back as the majority party in NI.
Of course the issue there is that they might not be and even if they are Sinn Fein can just pull the same stroke as the DUP and its all gridlock again.
Meanwhile Johnson the Clown is left with never ending disruption in NI - Truss threating his position - and introducing legislation that he doesn't want, that emphasises his lies and that will bring the wrath of the EU, USA and WTO into play.

Why should working age tax payers pay for your triple lock pension without a cast iron guarantee that they will get the same protection?

Yep . It’s happened before. Posters have taken me off the thread content and then criticised me about 3 pages later. Half wanted to know the ins and outs of everything I did and the other 1/2 slagged me off for telling them. It’s always going to happen. I said in my first post the vocal minority take over on politics and the majority who think differently don’t bother responding. It gives the minority the feeling that their view is right .
On your line of argument why did I, when I was working, have to pay for other people’s pension without any sort of guarantee of getting one. The answer is ...because thems the rules as they stand at the moment. No Government can give a cast iron guarantee as to what the position will be in 25 years time and if they did no one would believe them.
