How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

On your line of argument why did I, when I was working, have to pay for other people’s pension without any sort of guarantee of getting one. The answer is ...because thems the rules as they stand at the moment. No Government can give a cast iron guarantee as to what the position will be in 25 years time and if they did no one would believe them.

And why shouldn't public sector pay and work age disability and out of work benefits rise with inflation in the same way?

Do you really need the triple lock, couldn't you get in a few lodgers to make up any shortfall in income?

Good points. The cake is only I size and if the Public Sector pay and welfare increases it has to be paid for by the private sector. I do agree benefits should increased in the difficult times we live in,but I also strongly believe those who can work should work and not be paid to sit at home all day and do nothing. I could be wrong but I think the triple lock has been suspended, particularly with inflation as it is. As regards lodgers, if your talking about me personally I don’t think anyone would want to live in the middle of nowhere and have to rely on non existent public transport. Other pensioners haven’t probably got the spare rooms.

I am not bothered either way to be honest. I have never taken any decisions based on either who is running the Country or our position within the rest of the World. If anyone is expecting a politician of any persuasion to make a massive impact on their life they are in deep shit. As long as we cater for those who are physically or mentally not capable of looking after themselves, the rest of us have got to take personal responsibility and stop blaming everything wrong within their world on others. I find it keeps me sane.
I also sort myself and my family out and try not to be impacted by the poltics but, it's impossible.
Yours, mine and everybody else's lives are impacted by the decisions governments and politicians take. Unless, that is, you live under a rock or have 'bugged out'.

Doom merchants britains breeding a bunch of Fannie’s we joined the common market in 1974 for the trade agreements now it’s a political dynamo the MIGHTY E.U.When we joined we were a manufacturing powerhouse heavy industry look where we are now ……… no unions, zero hours, our workers do the most hours in Europe, shit pensions. The twats in the hats are crying because you cannot get your skinny latte with chocolate swirl because Stanislav is not allowed in the country….like it or not it’s democracy
hahahaha, confused.

Nope, just a reality check that politicians will make very little difference on a personal level and more people need to stand on their own 2 feet rather than blame others. Simple concept really.
Once again, nonsense unless you put all your money under the bed over the years and now pay cash for everything?

Tell me one thing a politician has ever done that has been life changing for you personally, just one,you don’t have to struggle with a list

Only suspended for a year. Working age people aren't paid to sit at home all day and do nothing. There is a requirement that you have to spend 35 hrs looking for work and evidence it on online.

Stay on UC for a certain period of time and you get signed up to mandatory programs with outsource companies who provide sub standard training.

Don’t play the game and you get sanctioned and lose benefit entitlement for several years in the worst case scenario.

Our unemployment rate is about half of most other countries in Western Europe. You moaning about "scroungers" probably says more about your own prejudices than anything else.

For someone over 25 UC pays out about the equivalent of a quarter of a full time monthly salary earning around minimum wage or just over half if you add on the Housing element.

You'd have to be daft to want to be stuck on that indefinitely if you don't have personal circumstances that prevent you from working in a full time stable job with decent conditions.

How do you know if you don't list it?

No space on the drive for a resident's car?
