How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

It has similarities but I'm not sure it's a mirror image. If the Scots vote for independence now, having rejected it in 2014, it will still be largely because they appreciate that being in a union with 447 million people will be more rewarding in the long run than being in the current situation; the English and Welsh evidently envision a world quite different from the one envisaged in Scotland. I agree that it will be economically painful for all parties, but accession to the European Union will be a safety net that Scotland could be less sure of in 2014.

Agreed ...its not a mirror image is it ....one country is leaving the largest trading bloc in the world .... whilst another is trying to join it

That’s not the reason for leaving.

The SNP have always had independence as it’s main policy and even without brexit they would still be wanting to leave.

Scotland exports nearly 60% to the rest of the UK. Now we know what leaving a trading and political union looks like, do you think they are correct in still wanting to leave?

A party of utter cunts, who have fucked up everything and worse, they don’t have the balls to admit it. Fucking vermin.
That’s the spirit, bring a bit of gutter language and agression in to what was a great debate. This is where, if the debate is in the Pub , some decide it’s time to drink up and leave. And then people wonder why it becomes one sided . I despair sometimes.

Adds variety to you not minding Brexit because you’ve got enough money not to care.

I tried to point that very fact out but no, he doesn’t get it in fact, many on here, remainers seemingly salivate at the prospect of Scottish independence despite it being a mirror image of brexit with even far worse and deeper reaching repercussions for us all if it went through.

Strange old world….

I’m a unionist but I don’t think there’s much incompatibility in arguing for both being a member of the EU and Scottish independence. It’s only a mirror image if they want the future relationship and deal with the rest of the U.K. to be similar to what we’ve ended up with the Brexit deal, which if people are also advocating remain, they clearly don’t.
