How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

You are a democrat and hope that the people of Scotland are denied a further vote to define its future. Hmmmmm.

We had one. I’m abiding by the result. That’s about as democratic as you can get.

The rest of my post was pretty clear as well I thought?

Absolutely it should. It was asked and said it wanted to remain a part of the United Kingdom of course in what the SNP described as a one in a generation referendum.

Only questions now are will they get another anytime soon and will the answer be different? I hope they don’t and if they do, the answer the same but I’m a democrat and if we decide to leave the Union then so be it. At that point we would all need to make it work.

Repeating Tory talking points is a bit pointless isn't it?

Brexiteers like yourself gave fresh momentum to indyref2 by dragging us all out of the EU. By doing so you changed the nature of the union between England and Scotland.

So by that logic they have they right to another vote. It is no good Brexiteers banging on about democracy and then denying Scotland the right to have another vote.

And on a general point as I can't remember if you have posted about sovereignty/supremacy of Parliament before.

It is also quite hypocritical of English voters who champion the supremacy of Parliament and that no Parliament can bind its successors to then bang on about something that may or not have been said in 2014 when Scotland have had several elections since especially when the Brexit referendum was only ever advisory.

It’s quite simple. Scotland should be able to choose which Union in wants to be part of.

Absolutely. That’s not particularly related to the point I was making though, I was talking about the compatibility of wanting both independence and remaining in the EU.

Flesh it out mate? If it’s towards refugees/Rawanda then it’s a shocking policy that I hope never happens but that is an immigration issue/policy and not really UK foreign policy imo.

It’s a bilateral agreement with another sovereign country. How is that not foreign policy?

“The debate we are engaged in as a nation is about the future of all of us lucky enough to live in this diverse and vibrant country. It is a rare and precious moment in the history of Scotland - a once in a generation opportunity to chart a better way.”

Guess who and when?

Who the fuck dictates we are only allowed one?
Especially after Brexit.

We will have another. Then it will be up to the competence of the Independence supporting parties to outline the benefits of a credible road map to Independence compared to a future determined by the status quo. It’s not just one path that has massive risks attached to it. Both do.

I would assume every current and future EU member considers itself an independent country, when the UK was a member I never felt anything less than independent. In the sane way it would be entirely compatible for an independent Scotland to apply for EU membership and still consider itself independent.
