How do you assess our transfer business?

The signings been good in my view. Need a bit of time. We need to get injuries sorted. That plus no pre season catching us out.
 
Aké is a big step up from both Stones and Otamendi, and Rúben is probably even better than Aké. Defensive wise, we are much stronger than previous seasons but we needed a leftback to let Mendy know his place is under serious threat. It’s an obvious weakspot that teams will attack all season.

Rodri surprised me yesterday, running a lot and showing glimpses of being able to replace Fernandinho one day. We’ll see what happens.

People ask for a striker just because Agüero and Jesus are out for a few weeks. Before his injury, Agüero was lethal. Now suddenly he’s a worthless oldtimer and we should have bought Mbappé this window?
People seem very reactionary.

This window for me is an 8. We got rid of a bad backup-keeper, Angelino and Otamendi who couldn’t defend. A perfect window would have been selling Stones and Zinchenko and buying a leftback.

I’m sure we will look for a leftback in the winter window if Mendy doesn’t show some consistent performances very soon but I actually think he did OK yesterday.
 
Hard to say. I’m happy with the 2 defenders we bought but not too sure about Torres but we’ll wait and see

I think we need a midfielder who can run as well as a left back

5/10, Dias, and Torres are welcome additions. Ake OK but I think we hugely overpaid in the current market. Covid has probably put a huge spanner in the works. The distraction of Messi didn't help. Was hoping we could have sorted LB and some striker cover, with big questions over Aguero's fitness.

We need to strengthen our scouting system so we are not routinely spending £50m+ on players other clubs have got for a fraction of that.
 
Its a rebuild transfer window, so I'm happy with where we are at. Im more looking at 3 transfer windows not just this 1. If we can replace kun & ferna before a ball is kicked next season we are doing well.
I'd love kalvin Phillips or Douglas Luiz to replace ferna.
As for kun nobody apart from mbappe or haaland are impressing me. But that isn't our transfer style, it will more likely be a rough diamond, someone like Alexander isak, Marcus thuram or some brazilian/argentine super kid.
If we could 1 in 1 out mahrez, zinchenko and gundogan as well it would be a 10/10 transfer period (over next 2 windows).
 
Dias will strengthen the first team.
Ake will strengthen the squad.
Torres is for the future, could be some player but isn't quite ready yet.

I'd give us an plus grade. Got two CB choices to increase the quality of our pairings. Replaced Sane. Took way to long with Dias because we aren't going to be price gauged. But still have issues at LB, and long term CM and S. Getting replacements at those positions is going to be a pain in the ass. Jeez. Aguero has been so good to us. Haaland maybe? Dortmund arent breaking up that Haaland/Reyna combo any time soon. They've invested too much in that squad. Although obviously Sancho is out the door...
