How do you feel about our success - Old Blues?

Im 49, 1st game at maine Road when I was 6 and my dad took me and Blue ever since.

Iam delighted, excited and thrilled at our status. The level of investment has never concerned me but obviously does others.

What others say I can remember saying about other teams myself, Chelski, Blackburn, Rags etc It was a way I could cope with our own mediocrity, always supporting the underdog. So I understand their reaction to us and expect nothing else but they all aspire to our setup.
We are really lucky and Iam gratefull for seeing the best blue football in my lifetime

i feel qualified to comment as my first city match was in 68 so i just about remember the old glory days .i have 2 sons whom i have of course brought up as city fans, who(apart from last season ) have had nothing but misery for the whole of their lives as blues . i remember saying to my youngest son earlier this season after watching city
yet again destroy the opposition, that this was the best city team i had ever seen and nothing has made me change my mind since . as great as the 60,s & 70,s team were i do not recall them "mauling" teams
as this current team can and more often than not do ? this is only the beginning of another golden age for city - let us all sit back and drink it in !

I'm 52 now and enjoying every minute of this. We have earned what we are getting now, it isn't luck. When we went down to the 3rd division on the brink of oblivion, it was the fans that carried us through. 33,000 turned up for our first game in that division and it was on the news that night and I was proud of how loyal our fans were.

I believed then, and I believe now, that no other club could have plummeted as we did and retained such a following. We carried them back up at Wembley and we carried them back up again at Blackburn.

It was because of that support we got the stadium and it was because of that support and that stadium we got the investment. Other fans could have done that but they didn't. We deserve it so I've not going to waste time feeling anything other than pride.

I reckon I've got about 25 years left supporting City. I want us to win trophies in every one of those years. Let it be a lesson to other clubs and to their fans.

We were there when we were shit !

Mutch prefer watching the football now than some of the dross overthe years.

Winning trophys will just be a bonus. Watching rag fans squirm is another bonus.

What's good is we are getting into the position the Rags were in for some years, we have players that are worth a lot of money. i expect in the next 10 years we will see us trading players like the rags have done we sell one for big bucksand replace him with another so the outlay starts to keel off. The big spend comes when you are not were you want to be. Thats why we , spuds and liverpool are top spenders.

Soon the rags will have to spend to catch us or get left behind either way profits hit. They have ad it to easy for years there are now 6 teams fighting for 4 places anyone who doesn't manage the club brilliantly (Wenger) or spend plenty will drop out.

Would be difficult to produce a better justification (if one were even needed) than this - well done Alec

have to second this - one of the best non-pun posts I've read for some time, hurrah.

Just pin this on the dressing room wall and get the team to chant it before every match...

Having been taken to my 1st game by my father at the grand old age of 11months,Maine Rd,City v Leicester shock horror a 3-1 DEFEAT Johnny Crossan and all.I took my little boy to his 1st game aged 10 months at Eastlands v Middlesbrough 1-0 DEFEAT.So when we sit in the family stand at every home game and we play and win in the manner we do 13 straight league wins this season(has anyone ever won every home game in a season)to know and remember just what we have been through over the seasons is really satisfying and hard to put into words, because Ive educated my lad about said previous years he has the humility and sense to accept the victories in as much of a gracious manner as he accepts the odd away defeat. So please young and old,as Jack Nicholson said "just sit back and enjoy the ride".

im just going to enjoy it while i can, and if we win a few cups and prems the more the better for me

I'm 52,Because i live in Dorset I've always stood out in the crowd proudly wearing my City colours,it never bothered me before and people would congratulate my choice, now i look like a glory hunter and i feel (stupidly) more unsettled. It's all in the mind, everyone who knows me know I've been a lifelong Blue.
Bring on the league title!

It's a case of 'if you can't beat them, join them.'

I loved football as it was back in the day, but there is absolutely no way we can go back to that time, the world has moved on. I didn't ask for it or vote for it, but it has, and we have to live with it.

Nobody will ever again do what Brian Clough did with Derby and Forest. It's simply impossible. Not least because the whole Premier League/Champions League set up is purposely designed to favour the rich and powerful clubs.

Professional football always was largely about money - the clubs with the biggest crowds always had a huge advantage. It's now about money, money, and more money, and how to think up ideas to make even more.
