How do you true blues feel about the enigmatic Mario Balotelli?

I will always have fond feelings towards mad mario for the 6-1 and his performances in the FA cup however we were right to get rid of him at the time. I remember being in a full away end at dortmund having already been eliminated a couple of weeks earlier. Balotelli came on as a sub for ten minutes barely broke in to a sweat and walked straight down the tunnel at full time without acknowledging the traveling fans. Even though he always seemed to hold us in high esteem I think we deserved more than that that night. I knew then that his time at city was over and he left a month later.

A Man who behaves like a boy and who's career is going up in flames. In 2yrs he'll be playing in the Albanian 3rd division.

Was he self-destructing when his 2 goals dragged us back into the 3-3 draw with Sunderland, the week before Arsenal?
Touche - but that's the problem really, he was constantly lurching between brilliance and disaster. I miss the brilliance and the cheek, but tbh just not worth the risk. There is probably no one you would rather have taking a crucial penalty for you in a big final, but with the speed cards are pulled out by refs in the modern game he's too much of a liability.

I think he always sought to "feel at home", even more so that he moved his adopted parents with him wherever he went. I think he thought he was at home with Mancini (Inter & City) but when that turned sour, Milan was calling him back. He had a cracking strike rate a Milan but it ultimately didn't work out. I think when he looks back further down the line, he will realise City was his home and he should have done more to protect that and keep it that way. We loved him like nobody else would, or probably will.

As for the footballing side, he no longer warrants a chance with us for many reasons.

I honestly don't see how anyone can dislike Balotelli, I love the bloke. He reminds me a bit of myself in the sense that you can tell people love him as a person even though he's a cheeky, naughty, loveable rogue type but you can tell he doesn't mean any harm to anybody, it's just his personality.

As a player we've clearly moved on and he's so far off Aguero and even Bony in terms of consistency of performance that we'd never have him back but he'll always get a great reception from me any time he comes back, he clearly has a strong affinity with the club and fans in such a short period.

Agreed.

The only person he "harmed" was himself. The treatment he got from the press was disgusting, perhaps he should have shagged grannies or his sister-in-law he would have been hailed by the press instead.

The waste of his talent is so sad.

Headlines don't write themselves. There was nothing about Silva, Aguero or numerous others. Balotelli made a rod for his back with his deeply puerile and pathetic behaviour. He's an attention seeking freak who is already on a downward spiral with Liverpool.
He was a kid who found himself living the dream earning fortunes and being idolised by millions.
If you've not got anybody close to you making sure you stay on the straight and narrow then it's easy to see how his head could be turned.
He will probably look back at the end of his career with regrets for what he did (or didn't do in his case) on the pitch but his life will be lived in luxury with all the trappings of fame that entails. Even without kicking a ball again he'll always stay in the news and people will want to know what he's up to, which is something he probably enjoys.
Good luck to him.

Love him. Loved him. Wouldn't want him back for anything.

Just excruciating to watch sometimes when he was at it. I get mentally tired right now just thinking about it.

Seems made for the MLS, I think. If he could just get his shit a little bit more together and performed at least decently the US sports media would just LOVE him. He would be a huge celebrity.

Loved Mario but it was the right decision to sell him. His impact was becoming less and less with us and you wonder if his career is already over at 24. That hatrick v Villa in the FA Cup replay in 2011, especially the first time half volley past Friedel as the ball dropped over his shoulder was proof of his ability. Sadly without his mentor Mancini he became lost. Great memories
