How many points to win the league?

Given that our closest challengers have 42 at the halfway point, simple maths would suggest that 85 should secure 1st place. However, united could conceivably scrape even more lucky wins in the 2nd half of the season. I think 90 points should be enough to win it and I'm not putting it past us to reach 100 if we continue our current form.

If we continue in our current form we will get 110 points!

We won’t maintain it. We have to go to Everton, Newcastle, Wembley, Emirates and anfield - some tough games.

I will be delighted if we can get 95 points.

Just mentioned in another thread that it’ll be nice to break the European top flight points record.

These are the only teams to break the 100pts mark.

Barry Town 105 & 104pts
Celtic 103pts
Juventus 102pts
Real Madrid/ Barcelona 100pts

All depends on the Cup runs to see how close we will come.

Well that can't happen
If the scum won every game between now and the end of the season they will get 99 points.
The darlings Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham can only manage 92, 91 and 91, and they all have to play one another. So effectively any dropped points and the media darlings knock themselves out of the title.

yep your right hahaha

but am saying 87 points will will the premier league target this season and the sooner we get to that mark the better the chances of staying in fa cup and champions league into the deeper rounds so 32 points from 19 games is about 1.8 points per game and if we can keep the run going then we could hit 87 in 11 games time giving us 8 games from mid march but i don't think we will keep on winning and we will drop points but the hope is there and the winning line is just around the corner

Here is the historic points of the premier league winners starting in 92/93: 84, 92, 89, 82, 75, 78, 79, 91, 80, 90, 83, 90, 95, 91, 89, 87, 90, 86, 80, 89, 89, 86, 87, 81, 87.

Taking the most pessimistic view of 95 points, that means 40 points required from 19 games, which equates to 13 wins and 1 draw. Do-able.

Chelsea had 93 last season

Regardless of how other teams do, how many more wins do we need?

Assuming everything remains the same, 13 points clear of United and the rest where they are now, I think I'm right in saying if we roll in to the Manchester Derby on the 7th of April and win, we've won the league, as the five remaining games will not be enough for the rags to catch us.

Though I have had a drink, so it might be talking bollocks.

I make that 14.

I wouldn't totally discount Chelsea just yet. Though I'd be slightly annoyed (to put it mildly) if they reeled us back in.

Chelsea are done, as are the rest.
There is no way on this earth we are dropping 16pts and them going on a 19 match winning streak.
They’ll finish second though ahead of Utd,but will be further behind us then they’re already are right now imo.
Utd have around 6/7 more points then they actually deserve for me right now,

Thanks mate.

Average points united will achieve: 84
Max points united can achieve: 99

If united drastically improve over the second half the max they would likely be on would be around 92 points.

Realistically we need about 38-40 points over the second half to take away any chance united have of winning it, personally I don't think we'll need that but pep will be making sure we don't give them a sniff

I want to win it before the Derby so we watch them squirm when they try and get out of the guard of honour :D
