The bit you said in bold was' "He has come here asking for advice on gaining weight so I think it is the perfect response"

Surely the 'perfect response' is to give the guy some sound advice on gaining weight?

Which I was doing in PM but then posted here but was then told that my advice was incorrect. The attack is not on the reponse nor the advice but the person giving it. Which is rather ironic as I am probably the most built person in this thread.
Such is life.
Oh dear.
Well he obviously has seen everyone

Oh you work out regularly? Well, I'm obviously talking shit then. I've never been to a gym in my life.

I guess you missed the several hundred page "Bluemoon Fitness Thread" where me and FantasyIreland gave nutrition and lifting advice based on scientific evidence.

Also, stop linking to bullshit sources. Being on a webpage doesn't make it true.

1. Speed of rep matters, anyone who has trained for a long time will tell you that. When you are trying to lose weight you do light weights fast and as many reps as you can. This you also do when you are cutting. Slow reps with heavy weights are great for strength and muscle gains. (http://bendo13.hubpages.com/hub/How_Many_Reps_Should_You_Do_for_Strength)

You're an idiot. Low weight at high reps is for endurance training, not for losing weight. Any lifting makes you lose weight. The increased muscle mass increases your BMR and your calorific needs. It's nothing to do with reps.

2. Olive oil is recommended by dieticians as a great way to gain weight along with training. It is not very expensive either.

It's 4 fucking quid!

3. He does need strength being 6'2 and 11 stone means that he has a high metabolism as it is and doing light weights would be like cardio for him. He would get slimmer. To be able to lift heavy weights he needs strength.

Again, you're talking shit here.

4. Actually the time you eat food does have a bearing on how much you gain(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8234386.stm). Infact speak to people that work out which is why when bulking it is recommended to have a meal or shake just before going to sleep.

That doesn't say what you think it does. Or I didn't say what you think I did. Either way, you are wrong.

Your digestive system slows down when you sleep. This changes absolutely nothing about the chemistry of absorption or what foods you eat. It doesn't matter. There is no benefit or risk to eating at any time of the day, it all does the same thing.

5. He is 6'2 and 11 stone and there are differences in peoples metabolism. (http://homeschoolingonli.hubpages.com/hub/High-Metabolism)

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/treatments/healthy_living/your_weight/medical_myths.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/treatments/ ... yths.shtml</a>

I respect your intelligence Damo but some topics best to leave them alone because some actually do work out regularly and have helped others regarding this. This constant need to discredit me can make you seem less than knowledgeable when you make silly mistakes like your above statements.

Also he does not need any circuit training AT ALL.

Because you don't know what you are talking about, and are using bro-science which might work for 1% of people but completely fails the other 99%. People like you shouldn't be allowed to post in threads like these.

Damo im sorry but you are again letting your personal opinion of me cloud your judgement. None of what you said is correct so maybe you should stop posting on this thread because you have no idea what you are saying. You are like someone who teaches people how to pick up women from a book. I am in the gym everyday giving advice to people, training with others and watching the results. If it was such a simple science people could just buy one book and end up looking like Arnie in a year.

I respect your intelligence but on this matter you are way off field regardless of what you read.

Any way to stop cravings?

Ever since I've begun jogging every morning I've turned into Mr Appetite. I'm not eating junk, but it feels like I'm eating all the time. I'm probably even eating when I'm asleep, too.

Celery mate - slows down the cravings

Thats when I usually resort to nuts and fruit snacks. In my house I usually have cut fruit, water melon, mangos, grapes all which I buy cheap at the market. I take this to work with me too. But dont starve yourself if you have cravings and its not time to eat have some nuts or fruit. It helps.

Id run what I said past the others though, I only work out, run and cycle. They read books so they know more than I do.

I'm eating lots of fruit and nuts. In particular, Eat Natural & 9 bars from Holland & Barrett. I hope they'll good for me, or I'm up shit creek!

Hi all, 18 year old here.

I'm 6'2 and I weigh a pathetic 11 stone, very depressed and self concious about my body.
You shouldn't be. That's absolutely bang-on the healthy range for your height. So you're fine.

I assure you that in 25 years time you'll dream of the days you were 11st
I've always found that chart was not really accurate for taller people. For instance, 75k for someone who is 6'7"? That's suggesting Peter Crouch is of "healthy" weight. And as someone who for a long time was 80kg at 6'3", I definitely did not look like someone of healthy weight. Hell, even at 100kg I would like to put on a bit more.

I think maybe a simpler way would be to minus 100 from your height, and that's your minimum healthy weight in kilos. ie: 170 = 70.

Sounds like you on a good path let us know the progress the results will show soon.
