How to bulk up?

Which I was doing in PM but then posted here but was then told that my advice was incorrect. The attack is not on the reponse nor the advice but the person giving it. Which is rather ironic as I am probably the most built person in this thread.

Such is life.

Nope the 'attack' as you call it, was on the words, not the person.

The last bit is pure fantasy though, you've not seen any of them.

Who cares?. Im not in competition with any of you nor do I care what anyone else looks like. I was just trying to help and answer questions in a helpful manner. Im off to for a run then to the gym now as my work day is over.

Any way to stop cravings?

Ever since I've begun jogging every morning I've turned into Mr Appetite. I'm not eating junk, but it feels like I'm eating all the time. I'm probably even eating when I'm asleep, too.

I know AntonDonJuan is a big advocate of ice cold water suppressing your hunger pangs. Not noticed it myself, but there you go.

I miss the bluemoon fitness thread, some cracking advice in there which helped me loads.

Over the last 14 months I have been training 3 times a week. Started off with no change in diet, seen very little in way of results. Over the last 4 months I have changed my diet, ate much better and more (I sell fast food for a living so the diet prior to changing was pretty shite!), and trained harder. I am finally starting to see some decent gains.

For the OP, my advice (sorry Damocles guess this comes under bro-science..) Eat more but eat better and train as hard as possible. And make sure you rest. I know it can be hard with little cash to spare but lots of milk, chicken, eggs and veg in your diet plus the advice regarding boby weight training and you'll be on your way.

And remember bulking up takes time you wont see results overnight.

Oh you work out regularly? Well, I'm obviously talking shit then. I've never been to a gym in my life.

I guess you missed the several hundred page "Bluemoon Fitness Thread" where me and FantasyIreland gave nutrition and lifting advice based on scientific evidence.

Also, stop linking to bullshit sources. Being on a webpage doesn't make it true.

1. Speed of rep matters, anyone who has trained for a long time will tell you that. When you are trying to lose weight you do light weights fast and as many reps as you can. This you also do when you are cutting. Slow reps with heavy weights are great for strength and muscle gains. (http://bendo13.hubpages.com/hub/How_Many_Reps_Should_You_Do_for_Strength)

You're an idiot. Low weight at high reps is for endurance training, not for losing weight. Any lifting makes you lose weight. The increased muscle mass increases your BMR and your calorific needs. It's nothing to do with reps.

2. Olive oil is recommended by dieticians as a great way to gain weight along with training. It is not very expensive either.

It's 4 fucking quid!

3. He does need strength being 6'2 and 11 stone means that he has a high metabolism as it is and doing light weights would be like cardio for him. He would get slimmer. To be able to lift heavy weights he needs strength.

Again, you're talking shit here.

4. Actually the time you eat food does have a bearing on how much you gain(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8234386.stm). Infact speak to people that work out which is why when bulking it is recommended to have a meal or shake just before going to sleep.

That doesn't say what you think it does. Or I didn't say what you think I did. Either way, you are wrong.

Your digestive system slows down when you sleep. This changes absolutely nothing about the chemistry of absorption or what foods you eat. It doesn't matter. There is no benefit or risk to eating at any time of the day, it all does the same thing.

5. He is 6'2 and 11 stone and there are differences in peoples metabolism. (http://homeschoolingonli.hubpages.com/hub/High-Metabolism)

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/treatments/healthy_living/your_weight/medical_myths.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/treatments/ ... yths.shtml</a>

I respect your intelligence Damo but some topics best to leave them alone because some actually do work out regularly and have helped others regarding this. This constant need to discredit me can make you seem less than knowledgeable when you make silly mistakes like your above statements.

Also he does not need any circuit training AT ALL.

Because you don't know what you are talking about, and are using bro-science which might work for 1% of people but completely fails the other 99%. People like you shouldn't be allowed to post in threads like these.

Damo im sorry but you are again letting your personal opinion of me cloud your judgement. None of what you said is correct so maybe you should stop posting on this thread because you have no idea what you are saying. You are like someone who teaches people how to pick up women from a book. I am in the gym everyday giving advice to people, training with others and watching the results. If it was such a simple science people could just buy one book and end up looking like Arnie in a year.

I respect your intelligence but on this matter you are way off field regardless of what you read.

Hahahaha, you have no idea what you're talking about. And you and your non-existent mates don't outrank what people can objectively prove.

The funniest thing about you is you are so massively arrogant that you might not that considered that maybe I have been a gymrat for years. Nor that there's a champion bodybuilder who comes on Bluemoon who could outlift and certainly looks better than you.

The difference between me and you, is that I'm not arrogant enough to believe that I know better than documented scientific evidence, nor believe that I'm the biggest man around. Oh, and I know who you are which I why I know you're full of shit.

Perfect advice.
.There's a reason you're hungry...... I would guess along with your raised BMR(through increased exertion) you are probably also in a calorie deficit.

Just make sensible meal choices based around complex carbs, lean proteins and efa's(good fats) as these will help keep your blood glucose on an even level and prevent hunger pangs and potential binges on crap.

I find chocolate protein shakes, boiled eggs and natural nut butters to be the best for halting cravings, green tea is also good.

I will wholeheartedly admit that up until about two weeks ago I was only eating about 500 calories per day. However, now I'm eating breakfast, lunch & dinner plus snacking in between.

Anyway, I'm probably in the wrong thread as I'm trying to build muscle, not "bulk up".
