How to play against Barcelona?

Would you play Silva behind Aguero for this one? I've been thinking, and since Nasris out will we come out like this?

Hart

Zabaleta. Kompany. Nastacic. Kolarov

Yaya. Fernandiniho.

Navas. Silva. Milner

Aguero

Negredo must play in this game.

We go 4222 like this:

............................hart

Zab..............vinny.....nasty..............clichy.

..................yaya.............fernandinho

.......navas..............................silva

.....................aguero......beast

Yaya sits a bit deeper than normal rather than in front of fernandinho. We play a high line and close the space between the lines. Navas digs in and defends and vinny steps out as their players try to find space in the hole. And when we win the ball we spring into attack like lightning with the one and two touch stuff which is our strength. And give the fucking ball to silva at every opportunity. But the holding midfielders keep their discipline and don't bomb on, leaving a big hole in midfield.

That's how you beat Barca. You close up he space they try to exploit and let david silva do the rest.

The front 3/4 pressing high up is vital here. We mustn't let Valdes have the opportunity to roll the ball out or pass it short, thus letting Barca get their passing rhythm going. Make him kick long towards Xavi, Iniesta etc where we will easily be able to retrieve possession. One of the front two needs to sit on Busquets at all times too for the same reason, he is the best one-touch passer in the world so try not to let him do it.

Agree on 4-4-2 as well. Realistically we need to take a win to the Nou Camp. A tactically adept game of chess ending up 1-1 with a 4-2-3-1 is no good to us.

Alexis Sanchez looks really good playing wide right!
Kolorov will have his work cut out dealing with this fella! ..Clichy might be a better bet?
Switches wide left at random intervals!
Looks a real threat!
We thought that against bayern Munich in the first leg and we know how that turned out..it didn't work out to bad for kolarov in the second leg besides the early hiccups we kept them out of the goal for 80 minutes

Barca had a tough time against Simeone's Atletico this season (3 draws, includes the supercup), who mostly play a 4-4-2, but they press very hard

Yes they had 2 inforcers that where on xavi and inesta all the time. They play 442 and hit on the counter.. miler and fernan on special marking jobs and that is all u need. and fast outlet balls .. simones really figure them out.

Milners suspended

Hart

Zabaleta. Kompany. Nastacic. Kolarov

Garcia Fernandiniho.

Navas Toure Silva

Aguero

Must be 5 in midfield, otherwise we will be overplayed in the midfield like against bayern at home.

or maybe this

Hart
Zabaleta. Kompany. Nastacic. Kolarov

Garcia Fernandiniho.

Jovetic Toure Silva

Aguero

definitely navas over jovetic for me, we'll need his pace on the field to let barca know if their full backs come forward, they're gonna get hurt on the counter, more a choice between Silva and jovetic for me and there's only one winner in that.
jovetic will make a great option as a second striker in the away leg if we fall behind and need a goal though as he'll do twice the midfield work of a aguero/dzeko/negredo while providing an extra threat upfront as opposed to what a midfielder will give us.

-- Mon Jan 27, 2014 10:11 am --

Pellers record vs Barca

Lost 10, Draw 2, Won 0

Oh dear

By the law of averages he is due a win then ?
only 2 of those twelve were with anything close to an equal side, both times he pushed them very close without winning and that was in a season where real were a new team that hadn't played together and barca were at their best.

I believe that this is one matchup where playing the first game at home is a positive. I would go all in, all on offense the first game. Our best chance is to win at home by a margin of 2 goals or more. With our form, this is not an impossible task. Then in Barca, I would play 5 in the midfield.

I tend to agree. I think we have to play to our own strengths at home. The time to worry about combating their strengths is at the Nou Camp. There's a reason they're worried about playing us at our place, and it isn't because we'll play 5 in midfield, sit deep and defend in numbers.

We're deffo good enough to beat these.

We have to press and mither the fuck out if them though.

They aren't used to it and very rarely come up against it.

Press and bully. Let silva navas aguero and negredo do the rest.

We'll also get joy at corners.
