Is VAR in use for FA Cup games?

VAR will only be used in FA Cup matches held at Premier League stadiums. This means that 22 of the 32 third-round ties will not have the system in place.

Meanwhile the six top-flight clubs facing away games against lower-league opposition this weekend - Newcastle, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Brighton, Sheffield United and Burnley - will be in the unfamiliar position of VAR being absent from the decision-making process.

This has caused controversy in the past. Newcastle were aggrieved last season when replays showed that one of Sheffield Wednesday's goals in their 2-1 win was scored by a player who appeared to be in an offside position.

However, there was no VAR in operation at Hillsborough and the goal was therefore allowed to stand.
We discussed this during match so I googled it.
Suggestion of VAR in use at our game as it's a PL ground etc but I can't recall 1 single incident going to VAR today, unless I missed it!

Too busy doing fuck all. My 15 year old got mugged in the city centre this week, threatened with a knife and made to draw money out of cash machine by a gang of 7 teenagers. No plod anywhere, this was Piccadilly Gardens. Appreciate there are cutbacks but resources seem to be put into the wrong areas
Piccadilly Gardens seems to be a free for all zone the past fews years.

Been to Leeds Road, the macalpine, the John smiths, whatever they want to call it, and I’ve never seen uddersfield have a pop at us, but a 15 year old lad is fair game for the cowardly despicable cunts, smashing a pint pot in his face. Cunts

They mentioned one VAR check on TV... A potential hand ball against City... it simply ran down Kev's chest, despite the animated appeal from some Terriers on heat. At least the BBC had the grace to say 'it was the shortest VAR check in VAR history'.

What happened when Gomez got his facial injury? Seemed a full blooded challenge that went wrong for both players? Did one or both slip? Not seen it back yet.

Gomez poor touch put it out of his reach and he and the Hudders player clattered into each other quite heavily but all body/limbs. The facial injury was just a stray leg catching his nose on the way down, not the initial contact, which would have been far far worse!! Think Gomez did more of the clattering, hence the free kick against, but it was pretty 6 and 2 3s. Looked way worse in real time than actually transpired.

So the elbow in Rico’s face and the subsequent assault on Akanji weren’t checked? Fucks sake

Yep. My lad thinks he’s quite street wise but he so much isn’t. I think he knows a bit more about the real world this week
If he's ok now then good lesson to learn early on. Me n my mate were talking to this girl there a while back and through experience I was aware of this lad a bit away from us n worked out what was going on. As in, she was working for him. She was very young n we were trying to help her but there was a gang near by to him. We left it at that, felt bad as we wanted to get her out the situation but could tell this wouldn't end well. This is when the police or some community outreach teams could of intervened, determined if she was willing to leave with them etc but this seems lacking at min.

They then went and started to talking to these 2 drunk lads who probably became their new target.

I know, incredible that none of them thought it worth a look. Akanji doesn't get injured if ref had not waved 'play-on' after the assault on Rico.

Manchester City v Huddersfield Town
Referee: Michael Salisbury
Assistant referees: Richard West & Derek Eaton
Fourth official: Leigh Doughty
VAR: Peter Bankes
SVAR: Anthony Taylor
AVAR: Matthew Wilkes

That’s a real shithouse attack on the blonde lad. Only looks about 15/16, and isn’t fighting back. Hope they arrest that twat(s) responsible.

I noticed that most of the casuals ultras twitter groups changed it quickly from

City and Huddersfield fans clash
To
City fan unfairly attacked
